दो दर्दनाक हादसों के बाद जागा प्रशासन, गोमिया में हटाए गए जानलेवा स्पीड ब्रेकर
गोमिया: एक माह के भीतर दो लोगों की दर्दनाक मौत के बाद आखिरकार प्रशासन ने सड़क सुरक्षा को लेकर ठोस कदम उठाया। मंगलवार को आई.ई.एल. थाना क्षेत्र के पीट्स मॉडर्न स्कूल के समीप सड़क पर बने विवादित स्पीड ब्रेकरों को जेसीबी मशीन की सहायता से हटा दिया गया। प्रशासन की इस कार्रवाई से स्थानीय लोगों ने राहत जताई और इसे जनहित में उठाया गया आवश्यक कदम बताया।
स्थानीय ग्रामीणों का कहना था कि सड़क पर बने ये स्पीड ब्रेकर निर्धारित मानकों के अनुरूप नहीं थे। रात के समय अथवा तेज रफ्तार से गुजरने वाले वाहन चालकों को इनका सही समय पर आभास नहीं हो पाता था, जिससे आए दिन दुर्घटनाएं होती थीं। लोगों ने यह भी बताया कि वहां चेतावनी बोर्ड, रिफ्लेक्टर या अन्य सुरक्षा संकेतकों का अभाव था।
इसी स्थान पर 19 जून को करगंज मोड़ निवासी की सड़क दुर्घटना में मौत हो गई थी। इसके बाद 7 जुलाई को शादी में शामिल होने गोमिया आ रही एक महिला की भी इसी स्थान पर हादसे का शिकार होकर जान गंवा बैठीं। लगातार हुई इन दो घटनाओं के बाद स्थानीय लोगों और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं ने प्रशासन से कार्रवाई की मांग की थी।
जनभावनाओं को देखते हुए पुलिस-प्रशासन ने मौके पर पहुंचकर जेसीबी से दोनों स्पीड ब्रेकरों को हटवा दिया। कार्रवाई के दौरान बड़ी संख्या में स्थानीय लोग मौजूद रहे और प्रशासन के इस निर्णय का स्वागत किया।
हालांकि, ग्रामीणों ने मांग की है कि भविष्य में जहां भी स्पीड ब्रेकर बनाए जाएं, वे सड़क सुरक्षा के निर्धारित मानकों के अनुरूप हों। साथ ही पर्याप्त दूरी पर चेतावनी बोर्ड, रिफ्लेक्टर और अन्य आवश्यक संकेतक लगाए जाएं, ताकि इस तरह की दुर्घटनाओं की पुनरावृत्ति न हो और लोगों की जान सुरक्षित रह सके।
