पैर फिसलने के कारण और कुएं में गिरने के कारण असम राइफल के सेवानिवृत सैनिक मौत हो गई

गुमला : – गुमला जिला मुख्यालय स्थित सिसई रोड के डूमरटोली गांव में सुबह असम राइफल्स के सेवानिवृत्त फौजी 55 वर्षीय थियोदोर एक्का की अपने ही खेत के कुएं में डूबने से मौत हो गई।

रोजाना की तरह सुबह वह अपने खेत में लगी सब्जियों को पानी देने के लिए घर से निकले थे। खेत में स्थित कुएं के पास वे पानी पटाने के लिए मोटर पंप सेट कर रहे थे। इसी दौरान अचानक मिट्टी गीली होने पर संभवत पैर असंतुलित होने के कारण उनका पैर फिसल गया। संभलने का मौका मिलने से पहले ही वे गहरे कुएं में जा गिरे। कुएं से गिरने की आवाज और पानी की छटपटाहट सुनकर आसपास के ग्रामीण और परिजन दौड़कर मौके पर पहुंचे। चीख-पुकार के बीच स्थानीय लोगों ने आनन-फानन में उन्हें बाहर निकालने का प्रयास शुरू किया। करीब एक घंटे की कड़ी मशक्कत के बाद ग्रामीणों ने उन्हें कुएं से बाहर निकाला, लेकिन तब तक काफी देर हो चुकी थी और उनकी सांसें थम चुकी थीं। थियोदोर एक्का अपने पीछे पत्नी, एक अविवाहित बेटा और एक बेटी छोड़ गए हैं। सेवानिवृत्ति के बाद वे अपने परिवार का एकमात्र सहारा थे।

असम राइफल्स में सेवा देने के दौरान थियोदोर ने देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में अपनी सेवाएं दी थीं। रिटायरमेंट के बाद उन्होंने सादा जीवन अपनाते हुए खेती को ही अपना कर्म क्षेत्र बनाया था। गुमला की सड़कों पर अक्सर उन्हें एक मस्कराते हुए इंसान के रूप में देखा जाता था। बाद में गुमला पुलिस द्वारा उनके शव को अपने कब्जे में लेकर पोस्टमार्टम हेतु गुमला सदर अस्पताल स्थित पोस्टमार्टम हाउस भिजवाया गया और पोस्टमार्टम के बाद, उनके शव को उनके परिजनों को सौप दिया गया l
