झारखंड की बेटी सीमा कुमारी: गाँव की गलियों से हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी तक का सफर

रांची, अप्रैल 2025:
झारखंड के एक सुदूर गांव से निकलकर दुनिया की सबसे प्रतिष्ठित यूनिवर्सिटी हार्वर्ड तक पहुँचने वाली सीमा कुमारी ने न केवल गरीबी और लैंगिक असमानता को पीछे छोड़ा, बल्कि हजारों लड़कियों के लिए उम्मीद की एक नई मिसाल भी पेश की।

गुमला जिले के डाहू गांव की रहने वाली सीमा का बचपन बेहद साधारण रहा। खेती पर निर्भर परिवार, पढ़ाई की सीमित पहुँच और 19 लोगों के साथ एक छोटे से घर में जीवन। लेकिन 2012 में सब कुछ बदल गया, जब Yuwa नामक NGO ने गांव में लड़कियों को सशक्त करने के लिए फुटबॉल कार्यक्रम शुरू किया।

सीमा महज़ 9 साल की थीं जब उन्होंने युआ कार्यक्रम से जुड़कर पहली बार फुटबॉल खेला। घर के कामों और स्कूल के बीच समय निकालकर वह नियमित अभ्यास करने लगीं। यह खेल उनके लिए सिर्फ एक गतिविधि नहीं, बल्कि एक रास्ता बन गया — गाँव से बाहर की दुनिया में जाने का।

शिक्षा और अंतरराष्ट्रीय अवसरों की शुरुआत

2015 में Yuwa ने गांव में अपना खुद का स्कूल खोला, जहाँ सीमित छात्रों और बेहतर शिक्षण व्यवस्था ने सीमा की शिक्षा को नया आकार दिया। इसी दौरान, उन्होंने अंग्रेज़ी सीखना शुरू किया और फिर पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा।

अमेरिका के सिएटल में एक्सचेंज प्रोग्राम, कैम्ब्रिज और वॉशिंगटन यूनिवर्सिटी के समर प्रोग्राम — ये सब सीमित साधनों और अथक मेहनत का नतीजा था। तब तक हार्वर्ड उनका सपना नहीं था, लेकिन Yuwa स्कूल में एक इंग्लिश टीचर और हार्वर्ड की पूर्व छात्रा मैगी के मार्गदर्शन ने इस सपने को साकार करने की राह दिखाई।

अब हार्वर्ड की छात्रा और नए लक्ष्य

अब हार्वर्ड में अर्थशास्त्र की अंतिम वर्ष की छात्रा सीमा, दक्षिण एशियाई संघ, इंटरफेथ सोसायटी, हार्वर्ड धर्मा और फूड लैब जैसे संगठनों से जुड़ी हुई हैं।

उनका सपना है — आर्थिक रूप से स्वतंत्र होना और अपने गाँव लौटकर लड़कियों को सशक्त करने के लिए एक स्किल ट्रेनिंग प्रोग्राम शुरू करना। वे चाहती हैं कि डाहू जैसे गांवों की बेटियाँ भी बड़े सपने देखें और उन्हें पूरा करने का साहस पाएं।

बाधाओं को तोड़ने वाली खिलाड़ी

सीमा ने फुटबॉल के जरिये बाल विवाह से खुद को बचाया, स्कूल की फीस चुकाने के लिए कोचिंग की, और शॉर्ट्स पहनने पर भी तानों का डटकर सामना किया। ग्रामीण भारत में जहाँ केवल 39% लड़कियाँ ही हाई स्कूल तक पहुँचती हैं, सीमा का यह सफर ऐतिहासिक है।

उनकी इस सफलता की गूंज बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री प्रियंका चोपड़ा और उद्योगपति किरण मजूमदार शॉ तक पहुँची, जिन्होंने सोशल मीडिया पर उन्हें बधाई दी।

लेकिन यह अंत नहीं, शुरुआत है

सीमा के लिए यह सफर हार्वर्ड तक सीमित नहीं है। उनके लिए असली मंज़िल तब होगी जब वे अपनी शिक्षा का उपयोग गाँव की दूसरी लड़कियों के भविष्य को बेहतर बनाने में करेंगी।

उनकी कहानी बताती है कि सपने अगर बड़े हों और इरादा पक्का, तो कोई भी बाधा रास्ता नहीं रोक सकती।
