India vs Oman Asia Cup 2025: India Clinch 21-Run Victory in Abu Dhabi, Seal Super 4 Spot

India continued their impressive run in the Asia Cup 2025 with a 21-run victory over Oman in Abu Dhabi on Friday, securing their place in the Super 4 stage. In a spirited contest, Oman displayed remarkable resistance but eventually fell short of the target in match 12 of the tournament.

Winning the toss, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav elected to bat first on a flat surface. India started steadily, with Sanju Samson leading the charge. The wicketkeeper-batter played a composed knock, scoring a vital half-century that anchored the innings. Samson’s timing and ability to rotate the strike provided stability even as Oman bowlers kept striking at intervals. India managed to put up a competitive total of 188/8 in 20 overs, thanks to late cameos from the middle order. Oman’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Shah Faisal, Aamir Kaleem, and Jiten Ramanandi, each picking up two wickets and ensuring India did not run away with the game.

Chasing 189, Oman showed grit and determination despite being underdogs against the star-studded Indian side. Aamir Kaleem and Hammar Mirza kept their team’s hopes alive with fighting half-centuries. Their calculated approach saw Oman steadily build momentum and frustrate the Indian bowlers. However, India’s bowlers held their nerves in the death overs, preventing Oman from accelerating in the final stretch. Eventually, Oman finished at 167/4 in 20 overs, falling 21 runs short.

For India, the bowling attack once again showcased its depth, with crucial spells in the middle overs curbing Oman’s charge. Though Oman’s batting line-up surprised many with their resistance, the experience and composure of the Indian side ensured they maintained control of the game when it mattered most.

This victory further cements India’s dominant run in the group stage, following their earlier wins against UAE and Pakistan. With this result, Oman are officially out of contention for the next stage, having suffered defeats against the same teams. For India, the win comes as a timely boost before their much-anticipated Super 4 clash against Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai, which promises to be another thrilling chapter in cricket’s greatest rivalry.

India’s all-round performance once again underlined their status as tournament favorites, while Oman walked away with pride for their fighting spirit and competitive cricket against a heavyweight side.
