Mumbai – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s T20 squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland in June and England in July, making several bold decisions that have sparked widespread discussion among cricket fans.
In a major leadership change, the selectors have handed the T20 captaincy to middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer. Under his leadership, India is expected to field a youthful and dynamic squad as the team prepares for a busy international season.
The biggest surprise, however, is the omission of star T20 batter Suryakumar Yadav from the squad. Whether due to his recent form or a strategic shift towards building a younger team, Suryakumar’s exclusion has become the most talked-about aspect of the selection.
Another headline-making decision is the inclusion of teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 15-year-old batting prodigy from Bihar impressed everyone with his remarkable performances in IPL 2026 and age-group cricket, earning his first call-up to India’s senior T20 side.
The selectors’ decision highlights their focus on nurturing young talent and building a strong team for the future. For Vaibhav, this tour could mark the beginning of a historic international career.
