वक़्त का तकाज़ा था ,बदलने लगा हूँ अब !
शब्दों को माप तौल कर कहने लगा हूँ अब !

अपेक्षा नहीं रखता किसी रिश्ते में,
सुकून की नींद आने लगी है मुझे अब !

जबसे बहते हुए आंसुओं के निशान पोंछे है,
आईने को भी पसंद आने लगा हूँ अब !

भावनाओं में बह कर ख़ुद को परेशान नहीं करता,
क्योंकि सीने में पत्थर सा कुछ रखने लगा हूँ अब !

कोई मेरा है तो उसे परवाह भी होगी,
कुछ लोगों को इसके लिए आज़माने भी लगा हूँ अब !

वक़्त का तकाज़ा था ,बदलने लगा हूँ अब !
शब्दों को माप तौल कर कहने लगा हूँ अब !

दिल से आज भी सबका ख्याल रखता हूँ,
लेकिन उनकी बेपरवाही कम असर करती है, मुझे अब!

टूट कर भी अब तक मैंने सबका मान रखा है
“ना” बोलने का फन सीखने लगा हूँ अब !

सब पर छोड़ दिया है उनके फैसले का हक़,
अपने पक्ष को साबित करने की कोशिश छोड़ दी है अब!

लोगों की उठती उंगलियाँ करती नहीं असर मुझको,
क्योंकि मन को दर्पण बनाकर अपने कर्मों का हिसाब रखने लगा हूँ अब !

वक़्त का तकाज़ा था ,बदलने लगा हूँ अब !
शब्दों को माप तौल कर कहने लगा हूँ अब !

ज़िन्दगी का वक़्त दे दिया दुनिया को,
उसमें भी चुरा लेता हूँ कुछ वक़्त अपने लिए मैं अब,

सुनते हुए रागों और सूरों में,
कुछ सुरों को गुनगुनाने भी लगा हूँ मैं अब!

जीता हूँ इस तरह कि आज आखिरी दिन हो अब।
क्योंकि ज़िंदगी एक ही बार मिलती है सबको ,खुद को यही समझाने लगा हूँ अब !

ऐसा नहीं कि किसी की परवाह नहीं मुझे,
पर इसे जताने से कतराने लगा हूँ अब !

वक़्त का तकाज़ा था ,बदलने लगा हूँ अब !
शब्दों को माप तौल कर कहने लगा हूँ अब !

ख़ामोशी से काम किये जाता हूँ,
साथ ही साथ उसका मनन भी करता जाता हूँ मैं अब |

कुछ दिल के करीब है, कुछ मेरा ख्याल भी रखतें है, वह मेरे,
कम से कम इसी के चलते नकली चेहरे भी पहचानने लगा हूँ अब !

उनके हाथो में मेरी ज़िंदगी की कमान क्यूं करुं ,
जिन्हें परवाह नहीं मेरी,खुद को यही समझाने लगा हूँ अब !

खुद से कई सवाल करने लगा हूँ अब !
