Meet IPS Prabhakar Chaudhary, a UP cadre who has been with the department for 13 years and has been transferred 21 times.

The police in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, made use of a lathi charge against errant Kanwariyas who insisted on attacking a procession through a Muslim-majority in the surrounding area that also had a mosque. There are rumors that the Muslims were also against the march. The Kanwariya group allegedly started playing loud DJ while insisting on continuing the parade while the cops were attempting to defuse the situation. The police used a lathi charge to tranquilize them. Prabhakar Chaudhary, a senior superintendent of police and IPS, was following the event and transferred to Lucknow’s 32 Police Commiserate. Nevertheless, IPS Chaudhary, who has gone through nearly three decades of moves since joining the police department in 2010, is not acquainted with this.

Prabhakar Chaudhary, an Indian Police Service (IPS), is nationally recognized for his dedication to traditional policing that operates according to the rules and regulations. He disapproves of Uttar Pradesh’s pervasive encounter culture. Because he doesn’t follow the rules and toes their line, IPS Chaudhary frequently draws the wrath of the political elite. He is also renowned for rejecting the VIP lifestyle and for frequently surprising people with his straightforwardness and distinctive manner of conducting unexpected inspections.

On January 1st, 1984, Prabhakar Chaudhary was born in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. He belongs to the IPS’s 2010 batch. After earning his BSc from Allahabad University, he pursued his LLB. Since he was young, Chaudhary has been interested in reading. He used to spend five to six hours per day studying. He earned 76% in high school and intermediate school before completing the BSC examination at Allahabad University with 61%. Chaudhary became an officer in the Indian Police Service (IPS) after clearing the desired civil services examination on his first attempt.

Prabhakar Chaudhary has worked for the state’s police department in Ballia, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Varanasi, and Kanpur. He is renowned for his harsh rules and efforts to eradicate the local gangs and mafia. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, presented Prabhakar Chaudhary with the Chief Minister’s police medal on Independence Day of last year in acknowledgment of his extraordinary commitment and selfless public service. When Prabhakar Chaudhary was appointed SP of Kanpur Dehart in 2016, he broke with precedent by choosing to travel to his office in a state roads bus and a tempo. In addition, he gained attention when he used his personal vehicle to drive injured people to the hospital while monitoring the rescue mission in Kanpur Dehat.

He is a native of the Uttar Pradesh district of Ambedkar Nagar. He was successful on his first attempt to pass the civil service exam. He was hired as an IPS officer in the UP cadre from the 2010 batch. He took decisive action against the mafia and neighbourhood gangs after seizing the administration of the Mathura area in 2017, exposed numerous looting cases, and ended illegal activities involving silver traders. After being posted there for three months, he was transferred out of the district.

According to reports, Prabhakar Chaudhary intends to join a federal agency soon and may even accept a central deputation.
