After being reportedly sexually assaulted by her supervisor at their workplace on Sunday, a 19-year-old female guard assigned to a residential high-rise in Ghaziabad passed away on Monday while receiving treatment in a Delhi hospital, according to authorities.
Police claim that they initially filed a first information report (FIR) at the Crossings Republik police station for a gangrape involving two further unnamed individuals, but the lady only named her supervisor as a suspect in her remarks before a magistrate.
It was discovered on Sunday afternoon that the supervisor had reportedly sexually assaulted the woman in the high-rise’s office.
Later, due to her failing condition, the woman was admitted to a private hospital in Gautam Budh Nagar.
The dead was a Jharkhand native who, according to the authorities, had been living close by and working in the high-rise for the last few months.
But according to her family, she was sexually assaulted by three guys in the society’s basement, and afterward she ingested poison, which led to her admission to Safdarjung Hospital.
DCP (rural) Vivek Chand Yadav told PTI that the police have registered an FIR under section of rape (376 IPC) as he said the woman was not gang-raped. He said police have obtained footage from CCTV cameras installed inside the basement in which no such incident of gang-rape was observed.
Chand also said that her viscera has been sent to the forensic science laboratory to ascertain whether she died after consuming poison or due to her lung disease.
“From the private hospital, she was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi where she succumbed on Monday morning. According to a complaint filed by her cousin, a case of gangrape(IPC 376d) by the supervisor was filed where he also named two unidentified persons. We got her statements recorded before a magistrate (under CrPC 164) at the private hospital. As she was unable to speak, she gave her statement in writing to the magistrate and named only her supervisor,” said Vivek Chandra Yadav, DCP (rural).
The supervisor has been arrested, police said.
“We have arrested him and are awaiting the autopsy findings of the deceased and her medical report. It has come to light that she suffered damage to lungs, but the cause of the damage is not known yet. The suspect will be produced before a court on Monday,” the DCP added.
According to some reports, along with the supervisor, two other men are involved, who gangraped the woman guard in the basement of the building after which she consumed a poisonous substance under suspicious circumstances and was then rushed to the hospital. It is being said that the supervisor had first beaten the woman guard after which he raped her with two other men who are yet to be arrested.
