A 32-year-old woman named Savitri allegedly threw her 6-year-old son into a canal filled with crocodiles in Karnataka, the child who was born deaf and mute. The incident happened on Saturday night in Halamadi Village. The child’s body was found half eaten a day later; police stated on Monday. According to the police reports, Savitri who works as a housemaker, and her husband Ravi Kumar,36, frequently fight over the disability of their son’s name Vinod. They have another two-year-old son. She told the police that her husband Ravi, who works as a mason, constantly insulted her and threatened to kill their son by throwing him (Vinod) into a canal infested with crocodiles.
Savitri reported to the police that “her husband is responsible for the death of her son. He used to constantly tell her to let the son die because all he does is eat and question her why gave birth to such a child who is deaf and mute. How much pain can my son have to go through if my husband keeps saying that? She said, “Where will I go to share my grief?”. After another fight over their son on Saturday night, May 4, frustrated Savitri tossed her son (Vinod) into a sewage canal that was directly connected to the crocodile-infested linked to the Kali River. The Dandeli Rural police were notified immediately by the locals. After arriving at the location, they launched a search and rescue operation to find the boy with the help of locals and divers. But because it was night-time, the police were unable to locate the boy.
On Sunday, around 9 am the search team found the boy’s half-body, the crocodile had already consumed the boy’s right hand. There were bite marks all over the body and serious injuries. The police have registered the murder case against Vinod’s parents and further investigation is going on.
