प्रख्यात चिकित्सक तथा टेस्ट ट्यूब बेबी के जनक डॉ सुभाष मुखोपाध्याय की जयंती के अवसर पर हजारीबाग निवासियों ने बृहस्पतिवार को उनको याद किया गया। सदर अस्पताल परिसर में स्थापित उनकी प्रतिमा पर आज पूर्वाहन 9:00 बजे माल्यार्पण तथा पुष्पार्पण किया गया। इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसीएशन, हजारीबाग के सचिव डॉ तीर्थोजित मैत्रा, यूनियन क्लब एवं लाइब्रेरी के सचिव अधिवक्ता शंकर बनर्जी, हजारीबाग बेंगली एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष डॉ सुकल्याण मोइत्रा तथा सचिव सोमनाथ कुनार ने सर्वप्रथम प्रतिमा पर संयुक्त रूप से माल्यार्पण किया।
इस अवसर पर डॉ रजत चक्रवर्ती, डॉ काकोली रॉय मैत्रा, डॉक्टर सौम्या, डॉ देवाशीष नदी, वर्षा दे, बिकास चौधरी, आशीष चौधरी, सागरमय सरकार, पंकज महथा, इंद्रनील सरकार, चिन्मय सरकार, सोमनाथ दे, दीपक घोष, जयंतो बनर्जी, सुनील सिंह आदि ने प्रतिमा पर श्रद्धापूर्वक पुष्पार्पण किया। यूरोप के इटली से इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसीएशन, हजारीबाग के अध्यक्ष डॉ सुजॉय सामंत ने डॉ सुभाष मुखोपाध्याय को याद करते हुए अपना संदेश भेजा। आज के आयोजन की व्यवस्था मे हजारीबाग के सिविल सर्जन डॉ सरयू प्रसाद सिंह तथा डॉ सुदीप्तो वेदराजन ने महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका का निर्वहन किया।
ज्ञात हो की 1931 को हजारीबाग में जन्म लेने वाले डॉ सुभाष मुखोपाध्याय की महाविद्यालय तक की शिक्षा हजारीबाग में ही हुई। तत्पश्चात उन्होंने कोलकाता और विदेश मे मेडिकल की पढ़ाई की।
अपने चिकित्सा जीवन में मां बनने के सौभाग्य से वंचित महिलाओं के व्यथा से वह बहुत अधिक विचलित हुए। उन्होंने इसी दिशा में शोध करना तथा ऐसी महिलाओं को माता बनने का अवसर उपलब्ध कराना अपने जीवन का लक्ष्य बनाया। आगे चलकर उन्हें ख्याति तब मिली जब उन्होंने टेस्ट ट्यूब बेबी की व्यवस्था का इजाद किया।
