बिहार के इस गीतकार को नहीं जानने के जुर्म में हॉलीवुड के डाइरेक्टर डैनी बॉयल पर हो गया था केस

23 जनवरी 2009 को भारत में एक फ़िल्म रिलीज हुई, नाम था “स्लमडॉग मिलियनेयर”। जी हाँ वही फ़िल्म जिसने एक नहीं बल्कि आठ-आठ ऑस्कर अवार्ड्स अपने नाम किए थे। डाइरेक्टर साहब का नाम था डैनी बॉयल, हॉलीवुड के सुप्रसिद्ध निर्देशक और फ़िल्म निर्माता, जो किसी परिचय के मोहताज नहीं हैं। डाइरेक्टर साहब ने फ़िल्म के एक सीन में एक भजन का इस्तमाल किया था जिसके बोल थे..
“दर्शन दो घनश्याम नाथ, मोरी अँखिया प्यासी रे..
मन मंदिर की ज्योति जगा दो, घट घट बासी रे..
फ़िल्म स्लमडॉग के एक क्विज शो में एक सवाल के जबाब में इसे संत सूरदास की रचना बताया गया मतलब की डाइरेक्टर साहब ने भजन को सूरदास का बता दिया जबकि इस भजन के गीतकार थे बिहार के बेतिया जिले में जन्मे सुप्रसिद्ध कवि और गीतों के राजकुमार कहे जाने वाले ‘गोपाल सिंह नेपाली’। फिर क्या था नेपाली जी के सुपुत्र नकुल सिंह नेपाली को ये बात जैसे ही पता चली डाइरेक्टर साहब और फ़िल्म प्रोडक्शन पर बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट में याचिका दायर कर दी।
आज गोपाल सिंह नेपाली जी की पुण्यतिथि है तो चलिए आपको थोड़ा विस्तार से बताते हैं कि कौन थे गोपाल सिंह नेपाली।
बिहार के बेतिया जिले के कालीबाग दरबार के नेपाली महल में 11 अगस्त 1911 को जन्म हुआ गोपाल सिंह नेपाली का जिनका मूल नाम था गोपाल बहादुर सिंह, नेपाली नाम इनके नाम के साथ इसलिए जुड़ा क्योंकि बाप-दादा थे नेपाल से। पिता फौज में और दादा बेतिया के राज छापखाने में काम करते थे। पढ़ाई तो कुछ खास हो नहीं पाई लेकिन लिखने का शौक बचपन से ही था। उनकी कविताओं में राष्ट्रप्रेम, प्रकृति प्रेम, रोमांस सबकुछ दिखाई देता। राष्ट्रवादी चेतना भी उनकी कविताओं में कूट-कूट कर भरी थी।
वैसे नेपाली जी के कई सारे किस्से हैं लेकिन प्रेमचंद और जयशंकर प्रसाद जी से जुड़े किस्से आपको उनका एक विशेष परिचय देंगे।
बात कुछ ऐसी है कि जब नेपाली जी की प्रेमचंद जी से पहली मुलाकात हुई तो प्रेमचंद जी ने नेपाली जी को कविता सुनाने कहा। नेपाली जी ने कविता सुनाई। प्रेमचंद कविता सुनकर स्तब्ध रह गए और नेपाली जी से कहा….“बरखुर्दार क्या पेट से ही कविता सीखकर पैदा हुए हो?”
ये तो हो गई प्रेमचंद जी और नेपाली जी की मुलाकात की कहानी..अब चलिए जयशंकर प्रसाद जी की ओर..
एक बार नेपाली जी अपने एक मित्र के साथ, जयशंकर जी को बिना बताए उनसे मिलने पहुँच गए। जयशंकर प्रसाद उस वक्त नहा रहे थे तो उन्हें दोनों से बैठने को कहा। जयशंकर प्रसाद नहाते हुए एक कविता गा रहे थे – “पीपल के पत्ते गोल-गोल, कुछ कहते रहते डोल-डोल” जब जयशंकर प्रसाद नहाकर निकले तो नेपाली जी से उनका परिचय माँगा। नेपाली जी कुछ कहते कि उससे पहले ही नेपाली जी के साथ आए मित्र ने जबाब दिया- ये वही कवि है, जिसकी कविता आप अभी नहाते हुए गुनगुना रहे थे।
नेपाली जी ने 4 हिन्दी पत्रिकाओं- ‘रतलाम टाइम्स’, ‘चित्रपट’, ‘सुधा’ और ‘योगी’ का संपादन किया। उत्तर छायावाद के जिन कवियों ने अपनी कविता और गीतों की ओर सबका ध्यान आकर्षित किया उनमें गोपाल सिंह नेपाली जी का नाम बड़े अदब के साथ लिया जाता है। एक बार की बात है कि किसी कवि सम्मलेन में नेपाली जी ने जब मंच से अपनी ये रचना पढ़ी-
सुनहरी सुबह नेपाल की, ढलती शाम बंगाल की
कर दे फीका रंग चुनरी का, दोपहरी नैनीताल की..
क्या दरस-परस की बात यहां, जहां पत्थर में भगवान है
यह मेरा हिन्दुस्तान है, यह मेरा हिन्दुस्तान है..
रामधारी सिंह दिनकर भी वहाँ मौजूद थे और नेपाली की यह गीत सुनकर गदगद हो गए थे।
इतने लोकप्रिय गीत लिखने के बाद भी वे लम्बे समय तक आर्थिक तंगी से घिरे रहे। आखिर में उनकी मुलाक़ात फिल्मिस्तान के तुलाराम जालान से हुई और उन्होंने गोपाल सिंह नेपाली से अनुबंध कर लिया। उसके बाद नेपाली ने सर्वप्रथम फिल्म ‘मजदूर’ के लिए गीत लिखा। उसके बाद अपनी फ़िल्मी करिअर में उन्होंने करीब 60 फिल्मों के लिए 400 से अधिक गीत लिखे।
जिन फिल्मों के लिए उन्होंने गाने लिखे वो हैं- ‘नाग पंचमी’, ‘नवरात्रि’, ‘नई राहें’, ‘जय भवानी’, ‘गजरे’, ‘नरसी भगत’
नरसी भगत में ही नेपाली ने दर्शन दो घनश्याम जैसा बेहतरीन भजन लिखा था..
साहित्य और सिनेमा में अपने उत्कृष्ट योगदान के बावजूद उनके जीते जी उन्हें वह सम्मान नहीं मिल सका जिसके वे असली हकदार थे, उन्होंने लिखा भी-
अफसोस नहीं हमको जीवन में कुछ कर न सके
झोलियां किसी की भर न सके, संताप किसी का हर न सके
अपने प्रति सच्चा रहने का जीवनभर हमने यत्न किया
देखा-देखी हम जी न सके, देखा-देखी हम मर न सके।
आज ही के दिन 17 अप्रैल 1963 में गीतों के इस राजकुमार ने अंतिम सांस ली।
उनकी पूण्यतिथि पर हम उन्हें नमन करते हैं।
