झारखंड में एक इंजीनियर जलकुंभी से साड़ियाँ बनाता है

झारखंड के गौरव आनंद ने अपने 16 साल के लंबे कॉर्पोरेट करियर को छोड़कर 450 महिलाओं को आजीविका कमाने में मदद करते हुए जल जलकुंभी से फाइबर निकालकर अनूठी हथकरघा (हैंडलूम) साड़ियाँ तैयार करवा रहे हैं।
जलकुंभी जलाशयों के लिए आतंक है।
“जलकुंभी को बंगाल के आतंक के रूप में जाना जाता है। जलीय जीवन तभी जीवित रह सकता है जब पानी में घुलित ऑक्सीजन कम से कम पांच मिलीग्राम प्रति लीटर हो, लेकिन जलकुंभी की उपस्थिति में यह घटकर एक मिलीग्राम प्रति लीटर हो जाती है। इससे जलीय जीवन को खतरा है और पानी की गुणवत्ता बिगड़ती है।

दिलचस्प बात यह है कि जलकुंभी का उपयोग देश में चटाई, कागज और अन्य हस्तशिल्प बनाने के लिए किया जाता है। लेकिन 46 वर्षीय जमशेदपुर निवासी ने पौधे से फाइबर निकालकर इस परेशानी को फ्यूजन साड़ियों में बदलने का एक तरीका खोज लिया है।

गौरव नदी की सफाई अभियान के दौरान जलकुंभी की समस्या को नजदीक से जाना। गौरव ने बताया “मैं जलकुंभी की बढ़ती समस्या का एक स्थायी समाधान खोजना चाहता था ताकि लोग इसे बाधा के रूप में नहीं बल्कि एक संसाधन के रूप में देखें। हम एक फ्यूज़न साड़ी बनाने के लिए 25 किलो जलकुंभी का उपयोग करते हैं।

फरवरी 2022 से, जब उन्होंने पहली बार ऐसी साड़ी बनाई थी, तब से गौरव 50 फ्यूजन साड़ियां बना चुके हैं और इस साल के अंत तक 1,000 और बनाने का लक्ष्य है। गौरव पर्यावरण इंजीनियर थे। टाटा स्टील के साथ काम करते हुए नदी सफाई अभियान के दौरान जलकुंभी के रूप में नदी में इस बड़ी असामान्यता की पहचान की। बताते हैं “यह गंगा, गोदावरी और कृष्णा जैसी बहने वाली नदियों को छोड़कर लगभग सभी नदियों में मौजूद है।”

चूँकि यह श्रम प्रधान कार्य है, इसलिए गौरव ने सदी बनाने के लिए जलकुंभी और कपास का अनुपात 25:75 रखा। है। फाइबर जितना महीन होगा, उसकी कीमत उतनी ही अधिक होगी। वर्तमान में, हमने अपनी साड़ी की कीमत 2,000-3,500 रुपये रखी है ताकि यह मध्यम आय वर्ग के लिए भी पहुंच के भीतर हो।

उन्होंने कहा “इसके अलावा, अगर हम 100 प्रतिशत जलकुंभी की साड़ी बनाते हैं, तो यह स्ट्रेंथ में थोड़ी कमजोर होगी। यही कारण है कि हम इसे कॉटन जैसी सामग्री के साथ फ्यूज कर देते हैं। लेकिन हम इसे और अधिक टिकाऊ बनाने के लिए 50 प्रतिशत जल जलकुंभी को फ्यूज करने की योजना बना रहे हैं।”
ग्रामीण महिलाओं को सशक्त बनाना
इस काम से गौरव बताते हैं कि उन्होंने पश्चिम बंगाल के सांतिपुर गांव के करीब 10 बुनकर परिवारों की आर्थिक स्थिति सुधारने के लिए उन्हें रोजगार दिया है।

सांतिपुर गांव में, लगभग हर घर में हथकरघा का उपयोग करके साड़ियां बनाई जाती हैं। लेकिन अधिकांश बुनकर परिवार वैकल्पिक नौकरियों में बदल रहे थे क्योंकि वे पर्याप्त आय अर्जित करने में सक्षम नहीं थे। चार दिनों की कड़ी मेहनत के लिए उन्हें 500 रुपये से अधिक नहीं मिलते थे।

गौरव बताए हैं हमारा उद्देश्य साड़ी बनाने से कमाई करना नहीं है। हम सिर्फ बुनकरों की आजीविका को बढ़ावा देना चाहते हैं, ताकि वे काम न छोड़ें और प्रेरित रहें।

बुनकरों के अलावा, गौरव 450 से अधिक ग्रामीण महिलाओं को सशक्त बनाने में सक्षम रहे हैं, जिन्हें बुनकरों को भेजने से पहले जलाशयों से जलकुंभी इकट्ठा करने और उन्हें संसाधित करने के लिए लगाया गया है।
गौरव कहते हैं कि इस पहल ने उन्हें एक उद्देश्य के साथ जीने में मदद की है। “अगर मैं कॉर्पोरेट नौकरी करते हुए सेवानिवृत्त होता, तो मैंने अपने देश के लिए कुछ नहीं किया होता। पहले जब मुझे वेतन मिलता था तो मैं केवल अपने परिवार का भरण-पोषण कर पाता था। आज मैं इस काम से इतने परिवारों का भरण-पोषण कर पा रहा हूं। यह मेरे लिए ‘वाह’ पल है। मेरा इरादा 450 महिलाओं [कर्मचारियों] की संख्या बढ़ाकर लाखों करने का है।
