China’s new map dispute: Kapil Sibal recalls Prime Minister Modi’s “laal ankh” for Beijing and casts doubt on India’s negotiating skills

Tension between Delhi and Beijing has increased as a result of China incorporating Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin in their new official “standard map.” Notably, China’s premier Xi Jinping and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met outside the BRICS meeting to discuss how to resolve the LAC standoff as quickly as feasible.

According to senior Supreme Court attorney and Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal, China’s claim to Arunachal Pradesh is “not a new thing.” We already know that China has ruled the Aksai Chin for a very long time…That is nothing new…Furthermore, the Chinese claim to some Arunachal Pradesh territory is nothing new. In an interview with the news organization ANI, Kapil Sibal stated.

Sibal also made fun of PM Modi, saying, “The Prime Minister used to remark that we should exhibit ‘laal aankh’ to China when he was in opposition. However, it now appears that the conversations are held while seated in the same swing.

According to Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, China recently released a new “official map” that asserts its sovereignty over the entirety of Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin. “We already know that the Aksai Chin has been under China for many years…That is nothing new…Furthermore, the Chinese claim to some Arunachal Pradesh territory is nothing new. The Prime Minister used to advocate for showing China “laal aankh” while he was in opposition. However, it now appears that the discussions are held while seated in the same swing. The minister of external affairs has admitted that China is a stronger economic force than the United States. This assertion demonstrates our limited capacity for negotiating. There have been discussions at various levels, and the minister of external affairs claims that Chinese forces

When we grow to be a significant economic force, a solution will be possible. Then you can speak with them on an equal footing. S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, asserted that China is a greater economic force than the United States. This assertion demonstrates our limited capacity for negotiating. The External Affairs Minister asserts that Chinese forces should leave after multiple stages of negotiations… But since work has been done there and things will continue as they are, this won’t happen, Sibal continued.

In Aksai Chin, just 70 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC), China appears to be stepping up the construction of subterranean bunkers, according to satellite pictures provided to Hindustan Times by Maxar Technologies.

The Minister of External Affairs frequently says things like “This is objectionable and we don’t accept it,” which is correct…But making assertions won’t lead to a solution… When we grow to be a significant economic force, a solution will be possible. Then you can interact with them on an equal footing. remarked Kapil Sibal.

In addition, Sibal poked fun at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday by questioning whether “revri culture” was at play in the Centre’s decision to lower LPG prices.

In an effort to counter the Congress’ promise of cheaper LPG in approaching Assembly elections in places like Madhya Pradesh, the government on Tuesday reduced the cost of home cooking gas by 200 rupees per cylinder.
