Minister’s Visit

Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, visited various flooded areas in Ranchi this morning. He spoke with residents and expressed surprise at the lack of government and administrative preparation for relief efforts.

Residents’ Plight

Homes Flooded

Hundreds of families were trapped in their homes, especially in the Bandhgadi area. Many households have been without electricity and water for the past two days.

Immediate Relief Needed

Sanjay Seth communicated with the Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Corporation Commissioner on-site. He instructed them to prioritize drainage arrangements and provide immediate relief, including food and drinking water.

Inspection of Infrastructure

Murgu Bridge Damage

Sanjay Seth also inspected the diversion of Murgu bridge on NH-75 in the Ratu area. The bridge was washed away due to heavy rains, cutting off connections to areas including Palamu and UP.

Construction Issues

The minister noted the weak construction of the 24 Hume pipe, which was completely washed away, creating potholes over 25 feet deep. He directed NHAI officials to repair and reopen the bridge within 24 hours.

This unprecedented flooding in Ranchi has highlighted the need for improved infrastructure and emergency preparedness.
