गुमला — कार्तिक उरांव कॉलेज के पास शुक्रवार देर रात एक तेज़ रफ्तार अज्ञात वाहन की चपेट में आने से सुमित सोरेंग नामक युवक की मौके पर ही दर्दनाक मौत हो गई, जबकि साथ में बाइक पर सवार दिलीप खड़िया गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गया। हादसा करीब रात 12 बजे हुआ, जब दोनों युवक शादी समारोह से लौट रहे थे।
घटना की जानकारी देते हुए महुदा पतराटोली, सिसई निवासी दिलीप खड़िया ने बताया कि वे और उनके मित्र सुमित सोरेंग (निवासी: तिलईडीह, पालकोट) बंगरू ग्राम में एक वैवाहिक कार्यक्रम में शामिल होकर निजी कार्य से गुमला आए थे। जब वे बाइक से वापस लौट रहे थे, तभी कार्तिक उरांव कॉलेज के समीप एक अज्ञात वाहन ने पीछे से उनकी बाइक को टक्कर मार दी। टक्कर इतनी तेज थी कि दोनों सड़क पर गिर पड़े और बेहोश हो गए।
हादसे के तुरंत बाद गुमला पुलिस की गश्ती टीम मौके पर पहुंची और दोनों को गुमला सदर अस्पताल ले जाया गया। अस्पताल में डॉक्टरों ने सुमित सोरेंग को मृत घोषित कर दिया, जबकि दिलीप का इलाज अब भी अस्पताल में चल रहा है। दिलीप ने बताया कि वे दोनों गोवा में कार्यरत थे और छुट्टी लेकर अपने घर आए थे।
हादसे की सूचना पर गुमला सदर थाना पुलिस ने त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए शव को पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेजा। शनिवार को पोस्टमार्टम के उपरांत मृतक का शव परिजनों को सौंप दिया गया। पुलिस ने घटना की गंभीरता को देखते हुए जांच शुरू कर दी है और अज्ञात वाहन की पहचान के प्रयास जारी हैं।
