गोमिया—-तेनुघाट स्थित उपकारा (सब जेल) में आशीष कुमार ने नए जेलर के रूप में पदभार ग्रहण कर लिया। कार्यभार संभालने के साथ ही उन्होंने जेल प्रशासन को अधिक पारदर्शी, अनुशासित एवं बंदी हितैषी बनाने की प्रतिबद्धता जताई।
पदभार ग्रहण करने के बाद आशीष कुमार ने जेल परिसर, बैरकों, कार्यालय और सुरक्षा व्यवस्था का विस्तृत निरीक्षण किया। इसके बाद अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों के साथ बैठक कर सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को और सुदृढ़ करने, नियमित गश्त, बंदियों की समय पर गिनती, स्वास्थ्य जांच तथा स्वच्छता व्यवस्था को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता देने का निर्देश दिया।
इस अवसर पर उन्होंने कहा कि जेल केवल दंड देने का स्थान नहीं, बल्कि सुधार और पुनर्वास का महत्वपूर्ण केंद्र है। उनका उद्देश्य बंदियों को अनुशासित वातावरण के साथ कौशल विकास, शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य एवं सकारात्मक गतिविधियों से जोड़ना है, ताकि सजा पूरी होने के बाद वे समाज की मुख्यधारा में सम्मानपूर्वक जीवन व्यतीत कर सकें।
नवनियुक्त जेलर ने जेल में संचालित व्यावसायिक प्रशिक्षण, योग, साक्षरता अभियान और पुस्तकालय जैसी सुविधाओं को और प्रभावी बनाने की बात कही। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि नियमों का कड़ाई से पालन सुनिश्चित किया जाएगा, लेकिन इसके साथ मानवीय संवेदनाओं का भी पूरा ध्यान रखा जाएगा।
इस मौके पर सब जेल तेनुघाट के अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों ने नए जेलर का स्वागत किया। जेल के अधिकारी सूरज कुमार मोदी ने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि आशीष कुमार के नेतृत्व में जेल में अनुशासन के साथ-साथ सुधारात्मक एवं पुनर्वास संबंधी गतिविधियों को नई गति मिलेगी।
स्थानीय लोगों ने भी उनकी पदस्थापना का स्वागत करते हुए उम्मीद जताई कि उनके नेतृत्व में तेनुघाट उपकारा प्रशासनिक दक्षता, अनुशासन और सुधारात्मक कार्यों के क्षेत्र में एक नई पहचान स्थापित करेगा।
