Doctor G is a medical comedy set up in Bhopal, where Doctor Uday Gupta, who aspires to be an orthopedic doctor, gets Gynecology in PG. How he struggles being the only male student in the all female class, overcoming his own stereotypes, be it assigning gender roles to particular medical fields, understanding loneliness of his widowed mother, or understand different dynamics between a man and a women under than romance forms the basic storyline of this two and half hour long movie.
This A rated movie, first for Ayushman Khurana, is hilarious in the first half with his interactions with his all female class, patients and how he struggles to fit it. Second half is more serious with highlighting issues such as teenage pregnancy, illegal abortion and risk that comes with it, parents trying to explore internet and finding a partner to be with.
As usual Ayushman Khuarna & Shefali Shah are in their best form, delivering the required depth in their respective roles. Sheeba Chada is hilarious as the mother who is exploring the internet and her dating life. Rukul Preet does well in the role assigned to her. Supporting cast is wonderful.
You can watch it in theatres but it wouldn’t hurt to wait for a few weeks and watch it on OTT.
