Early Life and Education
Satish Kaushik was born on April 13, 1956, in Dhanounda, Mahendragarh, Haryana, India. He was the third child of a government employee and grew up in a middle-class family. He completed his schooling in Haryana and later moved to Delhi to pursue higher education. He attended Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, where he was actively involved in theater and played various roles in college plays. He was a part of the famous theater group, ‘Act One’ and performed in several plays. After completing his graduation, he moved to Mumbai to try his luck in the film industry.
Career
Satish Kaushik started his career as an assistant director to Shekhar Kapoor in the film ‘Masoom’ (1983). He then worked as an assistant director to Kundan Shah in the critically acclaimed film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ (1983). He made his acting debut with the film ‘Woh Saat Din’ (1983), directed by Bapu. He went on to act in many films, including ‘Ram Lakhan’ (1989), ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ (1993), ‘Prem’ (1995), ‘Judwaa’ (1997), and ‘Badhaai Ho Badhaai’ (2002).
Satish Kaushik’s directorial debut was with the film ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ (1993), which was produced by Boney Kapoor. The film was a huge commercial failure and is often cited as one of the biggest flops in Bollywood history. However, he bounced back with the film ‘Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain’ (1999), which was a commercial success.
