Tragedy Strikes: Five family members are feared trapped under debris when a house in Sirmaur collapses; a rescue effort is underway.

In the aftermath of a terrible cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, a tragic occurrence occurred in which a family of five was fatally buried in debris. The tragedy, which took place in the early hours of August 10, has shocked the area and brought attention to the ruthless power of nature and its devastating repercussions.

According to officials, five family members may be trapped under a house’s wreckage. According to media sources, Kuldeep Singh’s home, who is employed by the Public Works Department, has collapsed. Singh, his wife Jeeto Devi, Rajni Devi, Nitesh, and Deepika are among those suspected to be trapped.

According to reports, a cloudburst struck the Poanta Sahib region of Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district on Wednesday night, causing water to enter several homes in the Malagi Dadiyat village.

The state emergency operation center reports that the cloudburst significantly damaged properties in Malagi Dadiyat. Search and rescue activities were quickly organized by local authorities and rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), to the location.

Since the beginning of the monsoon on June 24, the hill state has experienced 223 fatalities due to rain, floods, and landslides combined.

“223 people have died and 295 have been injured in Himachal Pradesh so far. Another 7,500 homes have had partial damage, while up to 800 homes have sustained complete destruction. Numerous local organizations, schools, and community centers also suffered damage, according to state revenue minister Jagat Singh Negi.

Himachal Pradesh has experienced one of the greatest disasters in the last 75 years as a result of the torrential rain and heavy precipitation, according to state Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He added that the state has lost a total of 8,000 crore as a result of the natural disaster. According to Sukhu, the Union government has released 189 crore out of 315 crore that had been held up under the National Disaster Relief Fund for the previous few years as a result of audit objections.

Until August 15, the area is expected to see rain, according to a yellow rain warning from the local meteorological office for Thursday and Sunday. A rise in water flow in rivers and nullahs, mudslides, flash floods, and landslides were also warned of.

Meanwhile, On Wednesday, a mild earthquake with a Richter scale value of 3.4 rattled the tranquil landscapes of the Lahaul and Spiti regions, prompting inhabitants and local officials to exercise caution and alertness. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake in Lahaul and Spiti was felt at 11.50 p.m. (Indian Standard Time, or IST). However, no fatalities or property damage have been reported as of yet.

“The tremor that occurred in Lahaul and Spiti was said to have occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres , the minor earthquake’s epicentre was at latitude 32.43 and longitude 78.40” According to a tweet from the agency.
