One of India’s most notorious counterfeiting scams was masterminded by Telgi, a name that is synonymous with notoriety there. Telgi, who was born in 1961, lived a life marked by ambition, cunning, and crime that culminated in a counterfeit empire that rocked the country’s financial institutions.
modest beginnings Telgi experienced adversity in his early years. When Telgi was a small boy, his father, an employee of the Indian Railways, passed away. He sold produce on trains in order to pay for his studies. Telgi eventually relocated to Saudi Arabia before coming back seven years later with counterfeiting as his intended new career. In the end, Telgi was given a 30-year prison term with hard labor in 2006. He was given an extra 13 years of probation in 2007. Additionally, he was required to pay a 202 crore fine.
Personal life and demise
Telgi was known for his extravagant lifestyle, including frequent visits to dance bars. He was even said to be in love with a bar dancer, Tarannumn Khan. As per reports, he lavished a dancer with ₹90 lakh in a single evening at the bar. His life came to an abrupt end in 2017 due to meningitis, compounded by long-standing health issues like diabetes and hypertension. In the end, Abdul Karim Telgi was a complex figure—a man of humble beginnings who rose to build an empire, albeit one that stood on shaky moral ground.
As people say Expectations were sky-high, but it’s only average. The main lead is just okay. Pratik as Harshad Mehta seemed more real and convincing even though the side roles in that scam were too good. After watching such, all I can remember is telgi. Side roles are forgettable. Not as good as the 1992 scam…failed to live up to the hype. Comparisons are inevitable because both tales fall under the same franchise. the audience to immediately recall the brilliance of the first chapter, which favors the second entry in the franchise, was a clever choice made by Achint Thakkar when he produced the original title theme of Scam 1992.
The second and third episodes of the show sometimes lose their momentum, which makes the entire plot much less interesting. Hiranandani has attempted to incorporate numerous layers and then explain many of them, which detracts from the appeal of a compelling crime thriller. With the exception of a few lines, Karan Vyas’ dialogue is average, and the cliffhanger at the end of the fifth episode is a weak point in the story because it does not seem like a challenge that Abdul Karim Telgi will be unable to conquer in the second half. Gagan Dev Riar’s portrayal of Abdul Karim Telgi in Scam 2003 is fantastic, and he is sure to receive a lot of praise for it.
