मान्यताओं के अनुसार गुमला जिला के प्रसिद्ध प्राचीन काल मंदिर बाबा टांगीनाथ धाम, जहां साक्षात श्री श्री 108 श्री, देवों के देव , महादेव , शिव शंभू स्वयं निवास करते हैं , जहां विशेष कर महाशिवरात्रि को जलाभिषेक करने के लिए गुमला – रांची – खूंटी – लोहरदगा , समस्त झारखंड राज्य , मध्य प्रदेश राज्य छत्तीसगढ़ , उड़ीसा राज्य आदि क्षेत्रों से सनातनी हिन्दू धर्मलंम्बियों श्रद्धालु, शिव भक्त अपनी-अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराने के उद्देश्य से पहूंचते हैं।

टांगीनाथ धाम बाबा शिवशंकर की अपनी मनोकामना पूर्ति और आशीर्वाद प्राप्ति के उद्देश्य से हजारों हजार की उमड़ती हैं भीड़। महाशिवरात्रि त्योहार को लेकर बाबा टांगीनाथ धाम समिति और जिला प्रशासन के उपायुक्त कर्ण सत्यार्थी, और पुलिस प्रशासन के गुमला पुलिस कप्तान शंभू कुमार सिंह के दिशा निर्देश पर , जिला मुख्यालय गुमला एसडीपीओ सुरेश प्रसाद यादव एवं चैनपुर एसडीपीओ अमिता लकड़ा , सर्किल इंस्पेक्टर मो० समीम, थाना प्रभारी अजय यादव एवं पुलिस कर्मियों की देखरेख में जिला मुख्यालय और टांगीनाथ धाम में महा शिवरात्रि अनुष्ठान का समापन संपन्न होता है।

अवसर पर जिला मुख्यालय के मुक्तिधाम गुमला , पंचमुखी हनुमान मंदिर परिसर , टांगीनाथ धाम बाबा आदि सहित अन्य अनेक प्रसिद्ध मंदिरों और शिवालयों में 24 घंटे तक गंजेमन होता रहता है। अखंड कीर्तन , हरे रामा , हरे रामा रामा , रामा रामा हरे हरे , हरे कृष्णा , हरे कृष्णा , कृष्णा कृष्णा हरे हरे , और संध्या के समय देवों के देव महादेव , शिव शंभू की आकर्षक महा आरती और सैकड़ो लोगों की उपस्थिति में बाबा भोलेनाथ की आकर्षक बारात निकाली जाती है। बारात में, मुख्य आकर्षण का केंद्र होते हैं। श्री श्री 108 श्री देवों के देव महादेव , शिव शंभू और उक्त बारात के बाराती के रूप में छद्म भूत – प्रेत – डाकिनी आदि भी काफी आकर्षक और आकर्षण का केंद्र बने रहते हैं। 9 मार्च 2024 को महाशिवरात्रि का महायज्ञ – हवन , वेदपाठ सहित अन्य अनेक अनुष्ठान और महा भंडारा , प्रसार वितरण के साथी महाशिवरात्रि के तीन दिवसीय अनुष्ठान का समापन होगा।
