Manipur: Political tension rise in

Manipur before voting phase.
With only 2 days before the second phase of voting begins in outer Manipur, three medium-intensity blasts were reported in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on early Wednesday. The explosion caused three caters and cracks on the bridge connecting Manipur and Nagaland.
The incident did not result in any injuries or fatalities, but it would have an impact on traffic flow along National Highway-2, which runs across Nagaland and connects Imphal and Dimapur.
According to a security official, the explosion happened near Sapormeina in the Kangpokpi area at 1:15 am. The official stated that inquiries are still ongoing and no group has taken responsibility for the tragedy. Security guards have cordoned off the area, and inquiries are still underway. The security forces are on high alert.
On April 19, during the first phase of voting, there were reports of violent occurrences in several regions of Manipur after thugs opened fire at a polling place, destruction of EVMs, and sparking chaos. After the disruptions. re-elections were held at 11 polling stations on April 22nd.
In a letter to the election commission, joint chief electoral officers of Manipur ramananda nongmeikapam announced that re-polling would take place at the 11 polling stations within the inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency on April 22.
Manipur’s joint chief electoral officer, Ramananda Nogmeikapam, cited incidents of mob violence, booth capturing, and electronic voting machine destruction during the first polling phase in a letter to the election commission. Additionally, he reported on an incident in Emphal East when miscreants fired and injured an old man.
Since then, gunfights have also occurred in the vincity of the kangpokpi district and Imphal West border. The Awang Sekmai and nearby Luwangsangol villages were the scene of heavy gunfire after a group of villagers in the kangpookpidistrict descended from the hills, according to news agency PTI.
