Noida: A woman dies in a newly inaugurated hotel after a fire broke out

A tragic incident took place in Noida, A 27-year-old woman suffocated to death while she was staying with her friend after a fire broke out in a hotel resulting in grievous injuries to her friend in sector 104 of Noida on Saturday. The hotel was newly inaugurated but lacked safety measures which resulted in grievous incidents among the first customers of Hotel Moon. The deceased has been identified as Palak, a physiotherapist by profession along with her friend named Tarun Kumar, an engineer from Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase 1. As per the report, Hotel Moon has its grand opening on May 10 on Akshaya Tritiya and these individuals were among its initial clientele. At the top of the six-story structure, they had taken a room.

Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Pla stated that before calling the fire department, the hotel personnel tried to put out the fire for almost 30 minutes on their own, but by then, the fire had gotten out of control. He further stated “ At 5:35 p.m., we got a call. After being sent from multiple fire stations, ten fire tenders arrived at the scene, and after twenty-five minutes the fire was contained. Additionally “Unfortunately the sixth-floor room where Palak and Tarun were staying was now covered in smoke and the fourth floor was fully consumed by flames.” Unconscious victims were successfully rescued from the sixth story by rescuers but unfortunately, Palak was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. According to reports Akash Sharma leased the hotel from Vimlesh Jha and the latter failed to promptly notify the guests of the incident.

the cause of the fire was a short circuit during the installation of ACs on the fourth floor that may have sparked the fire. The hotel employees were caught off guard and lacked safe premises. They were informed by the surrounding shops and made valiant but ineffective attempts to put out the flames. Further investigation is ongoing.
