“Did not even able to touch Kirti Chakra”: The late Captain’s parents claim their daughter-in-law took the gallantry award.

Captain Anshuman Singh’s father, Ravi Pratap Singh, disclosed confidentially to a reputable news outlet that his daughter-in-law had changed her late husband’s official address from Lucknow to Gurdaspur and had also taken over all correspondence about their son.

Disturbing allegations have been made against Smriti, the wife of the late Captain Anshuman Singh, who very bravely gave his life during a fire incident in Siachen back in July of last year.

The bereaved parents of the deceased hero assert that Smriti stole the government’s posthumous Kirti Chakra, a coveted gallantry medal, and their son’s personal things, which included a treasured photo album and clothes.

“With Smriti’s approval, we married Anshuman. She began staying with my daughter in Noida after the wedding. When we learned of Anshuman’s passing on July 19, 2023, I called them to Lucknow, and together we travelled to Gorakhpur for his final ceremonies. However, following the tehravi, or death rite, Smriti insisted on returning to Gurdaspur, according to Ravi Pratap Singh.

Narrating the events that followed Anshuman’s untimely death, Pratap Singh also conveyed his shock at Smriti’s apparent confiscation of the medal and personal possessions.
The parents bemoaned their incapacity to even come close to the esteemed Kirti Chakra that the President had given their son.

Manju, the mother of Captain Anshuman Singh, too described a traumatic event. She declared, “I went to the Rashtrapati Bhavan award ceremony with Smriti on July 5. I held the Kirti Chakra for a picture once when we were leaving the event, at the urging of Army officials. However, Smriti removed the Kirti Chakra from my grasp thereafter.”

The Kirti Chakra was awarded posthumously to Captain Anshuman Singh of Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, in recognition of his outstanding bravery while doing his duties.
