Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced a significant milestone in women’s empowerment through a tweet on X (formerly Twitter). On Thursday, the CM shared details of the financial aid distribution under the Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana, highlighting that a total of 5,91,919 women across three districts received the first installment of the scheme directly in their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
In his tweet, Soren expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “Big success in record time. Today, under the Chief Minister Maiya Samman Yojana, we have taken a strong step towards women empowerment by transferring the honorarium through DBT to the bank accounts of 5,91,919 beneficiaries.”
The tweet further detailed the breakdown of beneficiaries:
Palamu District: 2,88,521 women
Latehar District: 1,17,605 women
Garwah District: 2,19,320 women
Soren also assured that starting next month, the honorarium would be credited consistently on the 5th of every month, with no restrictions, to the accounts of the beneficiaries.
This initiative forms part of Soren’s larger agenda of promoting economic independence for women in Jharkhand, especially as assembly elections draw near. The Chief Minister emphasized the commitment to reaching women across the state, ensuring timely financial aid, and addressing any barriers that may arise.
The scheme is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the financial security of women, with nearly six lakh beneficiaries already receiving funds under this first installment.
