ED Arrests Four in Major Crackdown on Bangladeshi Infiltration and Human Trafficking Network

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently made significant arrests related to Bangladeshi infiltration and human trafficking. Two Bangladeshi nationals, Rony Mondal and Sameer Chowdhary, and two Indian nationals, Pintu Haldar and Pinki Basu Mukherjee, were arrested in connection with facilitating illegal infiltration into India.

The arrests were made in Kolkata on November 12 and 13, 2024, and ED has obtained transit remand to bring all four suspects to Ranchi, Jharkhand, for further investigation. This action is part of a larger investigation by ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, focusing on illegal Bangladeshi infiltration into India.

The ED conducted extensive raids at 17 locations in Jharkhand and West Bengal as part of this investigation. During these searches, officials recovered multiple incriminating items, including fake Aadhaar cards, forged passports, illegal arms, cash, jewelry, property documents, printing materials, printing machines, and blank Aadhaar forms. These items strongly suggest that the accused were involved in creating fake documents to aid illegal Bangladeshi nationals entering and settling in India.

This ED operation strikes a significant blow against organized human trafficking and illegal infiltration networks. The suspects are believed to be aiding illegal infiltration by arranging fake identity documents, helping people from Bangladesh enter India unlawfully and settle with fake identities. ED is bringing these suspects to Ranchi for further questioning, with the goal of uncovering other members involved in this network.
