होशियारपुर में एक महत्वपूर्ण नया सीमेंट प्रोजेक्ट घोषित किया गया है, जिसकी अनुमानित लागत लगभग ₹1400 करोड़ है और इसकी क्षमता 2.4 मिलियन टन प्रति वर्ष (MTPA) है। यह प्रोजेक्ट स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था और पर्यावरण में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान देने के लिए तैयार है।
यह प्रोजेक्ट सरकार को सालाना लगभग ₹250 करोड़ का राजस्व उत्पन्न करेगा और लगभग 500 व्यक्तियों के लिए प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष रोजगार के अवसर पैदा करेगा। निर्माण चरण के दौरान, यह प्रोजेक्ट 2000 संविदात्मक रोजगार के अवसर उत्पन्न करेगा, जिसमें स्थानीय ग्रामीणों को उनकी कौशल के आधार पर प्राथमिकता दी जाएगी।
नए संयंत्र में वायु प्रदूषण को रोकने के लिए सरकारी दिशानिर्देशों के अनुसार बैग फिल्टर जैसे वायु शुद्धिकरण उपकरण स्थापित किए जाएंगे। विशेष रूप से, इस प्रक्रिया में कोई रसायन का उपयोग नहीं किया जाएगा, और यह एक सूखा इकाई होगी जिसमें संचालन में पानी का उपयोग नहीं होगा। उत्पन्न होने वाला एकमात्र अपशिष्ट जल घरेलू होगा, जिसे सीवेज ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट (STP) में उपचारित किया जाएगा और बागवानी के लिए परिसर के भीतर पुन: उपयोग किया जाएगा।
आर्थिक और पर्यावरणीय लाभों के अलावा, यह प्रोजेक्ट विभिन्न कॉर्पोरेट सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व (CSR) गतिविधियों के माध्यम से स्थानीय समुदाय का समर्थन करने के लिए समर्पित है। योजना में फैक्ट्री के पास के ग्रामीणों को रोजगार के अवसर प्रदान करना और गांव के बुनियादी ढांचे में सुधार करना शामिल है। इसमें शिक्षा, महिला सशक्तिकरण, मनुष्यों और जानवरों के लिए पेयजल, सड़क रखरखाव, प्रशिक्षण जाल, योजना और वर्षा जल संरक्षण में पहल शामिल हैं।
