Ranchi, Jharkhand – Rain is expected to disrupt the weather in Jharkhand over the next 24 hours, with several districts likely to experience showers, according to the Meteorological Department. This change in weather, driven by a western disturbance, is also expected to cause a temperature drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius, adding to the winter chill.
Rainfall Expected Across 10 Districts
Meteorologist Abhishek Anand shared that districts in the western region of Jharkhand, such as Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, Koderma, and Lohardaga, are likely to receive rain on December 28 and 29. Rainfall is also forecast for central areas, including Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Gumla, and Bokaro.
“The sky will remain cloudy from the afternoon of December 28, with moderate rainfall expected from evening until the morning of December 29,” Anand stated. He also warned that the showers would bring a noticeable drop in temperature, intensifying the cold.
Impact on Farmers and Daily Life
The unseasonal rain at the end of December has sparked concerns, particularly among farmers who are worried about potential damage to their crops. The Meteorological Department has advised residents to stay cautious and prepare for the colder conditions that will follow the rain.
For the past two days, Palamu district has recorded a minimum temperature of around 13 degrees Celsius. Post-rain, the temperature in many areas could drop by an additional 4 degrees.
What’s Driving the Weather Change?
This shift in weather is attributed to the western disturbance, which is influencing conditions in Jharkhand. Such disturbances often bring clouds and rain, followed by a decrease in temperature.
Residents Advised to Prepare
The weather department has issued a warning for residents in affected districts to take necessary precautions during this period. With cloudy skies and moderate rainfall expected, people are advised to stay warm and monitor weather updates.
As the year ends, Jharkhand is set to experience both rain and a sharper dip in temperatures, making this period challenging for both daily activities and agriculture.
