गोमिया—कारगिल विजय दिवस के अवसर पर डीएवी स्कूल में सोमवार को देश के अमर शहीदों को भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते हुए विशेष प्रार्थना सभा का आयोजन किया गया। इस दौरान कारगिल युद्ध में भारतीय सेना के अद्वितीय साहस, त्याग और बलिदान को याद करते हुए विद्यार्थियों एवं शिक्षकों ने वीर जवानों के प्रति सम्मान व्यक्त किया।
कार्यक्रम में बताया गया कि 26 जुलाई 1999 को भारतीय सेना ने पाकिस्तानी घुसपैठियों को परास्त कर कारगिल की चोटियों पर तिरंगा फहराया था। इस ऐतिहासिक विजय को याद करते हुए कक्षा पांच के छात्र आर्यन राज ने हिंदी तथा कक्षा सात की छात्रा तिश्या अग्रवाल ने अंग्रेजी में अपने विचार रखे। कार्यक्रम का संचालन शिक्षक सुरेंद्र प्रसाद तिवारी एवं प्रभात कुमार पाण्डेय के निर्देशन तथा जयंत कुमार के सहयोग से संपन्न हुआ।
इस अवसर पर विद्यालय की छात्र परिषद के नव निर्वाचित पदाधिकारियों को भी पद एवं गोपनीयता की शपथ दिलाई गई। विद्यालय के प्राचार्य हलधर महतो ने सभी विद्यार्थियों को अपने दायित्वों का ईमानदारी और निष्ठा के साथ निर्वहन करने का संकल्प दिलाया। सीसीए प्रमुख मो. असगर अली, संदीप कुमार यादव तथा खेल शिक्षक सूरज कुमार के निर्देशन में विद्यालय की विभिन्न जिम्मेदारियां विद्यार्थियों को सौंपी गईं।
नव निर्वाचित छात्र परिषद में हिमांशु कुमार को हेड बॉय, कृति झा को हेड गर्ल, भावना भारती को सांस्कृतिक प्रमुख तथा विशाल कुमार दास को स्पोर्ट्स कैप्टन चुना गया। इसके अलावा विभिन्न हाउसों के कैप्टन एवं उप-कैप्टनों को भी दायित्व सौंपे गए।
कार्यक्रम में योगेन्द्र प्रताप, सिद्धार्थ शंकर दे, द्रविण कुमार, लक्ष्मी गुप्ता, साक्षी श्रेया सहित विद्यालय के शिक्षक-शिक्षिकाएं एवं बड़ी संख्या में छात्र-छात्राएं उपस्थित रहे। पूरे कार्यक्रम में राष्ट्रभक्ति का वातावरण बना रहा और विद्यार्थियों ने देश की एकता, अखंडता तथा सेवा के प्रति समर्पित रहने का संकल्प लिया।
