Tragedy Strikes at Himachal Pradesh’s Solan: 7 Killed in Devastating Cloudburst, Homes Swept Away.

A cloudburst incident in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district resulted in the deaths of seven persons ,According to authorities. According to them, six persons were saved following the cloudburst at Mamligh village in the Kandaghat subdivision of Solan.

According to news agency ANI, two homes and one cowshed were lost in the flood.

The cloud burst occurred in the village of Mamligh, which is Dhaniram Shandil’s home district and where he serves as the health minister for Himachal Pradesh.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his condolences and stated that he had instructed the authorities to provide the affected families with all necessary support and assistance.

“Devastated to hear about the loss of 7 precious lives in the tragic cloudburst incident at Village Jadon, Dhawla Sub-Tehsil in Solan District. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families. We share in your pain and sorrow during this difficult time,” the Chief Minister’s Office tweeted.

Rescue personnel are on the scene, and they are working to free those who are trapped. Three individuals remain missing. Nevertheless, the rescue effort managed to save the lives of 5 people.

Late on Sunday night, CM Sukhu convened a virtual meeting with each district commissioner. After that, he issued a proclamation that Monday would be a holiday for all schools, colleges, industrial training centers, engineering, polytechnic, and pharmacy colleges. Exams for the B-Ed and postgraduate degrees have also been postponed. The district’s educational institutions are all shuttered by the administration until August 14.

Similar to this, all institutions in the urban region of Shimla have also been shut down until further notice. According to SP Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, a temple fell as a result of the landslide, endangering the nearby structures. Lots of people got stuck.

The state emergency operation center reports that a total of 621 roads, including a maximum of 236 in Mandi, 59 in Shimla, and 40 in the Bilaspur district, are currently restricted to vehicular traffic. According to officials, recurrent landslides have been affecting a crucial section of the Shimla-Kalka National Highway, which connects Shimla and Chandigarh, during the past two weeks.

Due to the floods and landslides, Himachal Pradesh has been the worst-affected state in the nation. On Sunday, officials announced a startling loss of 7020.28 crore as a result of the monsoon’s disastrous impact.

On June 24, the Himachal Pradesh monsoon season began. 257 lives were lost during the monsoon, according to the officials, for a variety of reasons.

Official statistics show that the state has experienced 55 flash flood incidents and 90 landslides thus far. While the state still has approximately 450 closed roads, including 2 National Highways. According to the officials, 1,814 electricity supply projects and 59 water supply schemes are still hindered.

The weather office has projected a wet spell in the state until August 19, and from August 14 to 17, it has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning at isolated locations throughout the state.
