सरहुल चैत्र माह के इंजोरिया या शुक्ल पक्ष के तृतीया तिथि को बसंत ऋतु में मनाया जाता है वैसे तो यह पूरे देश में अलग-अलग नाम से मनाया जाता है पर झारखंड में विविध जनजातीय समूह अलग-अलग तरह से मनाते हैं सरहुल का शाब्दिक अर्थ सखुआ फूलों की क्रांति है जो विविध नाम से जानी जाती है जैसे संथाली मुंडारी एवं हो जनजाति समूह बाहा पोरोब, खड़िया में जांकोर, उरांव या कुरुख में खद्दी आदि इसे मनाने का तरीका विविध जनजाति समुदाय में थोड़ी बहुत भिन्नता के साथ एक ही है जिसमें प्रकृति के सूत्रधार सूर्य एवं पृथ्वी के विवाह का उत्सव जिसे खेखेल बेंजा कहते हैं कोकड़ा को साक्षी बनाकर नाच गाकर मनाया जाता है इसके बाद खरीफ फसल की बुवाई के लिए खाद बीज खेतों में डाला जाता है और परमेश्वर से सभी के सुख में शांति में एवं समृद्ध जीवन की कामना की जाती है इस पर्व में पाहन घड़े का पानी देखकर वारिस की भविष्यवाणी करते हैं “खद्दी चांदो रे हियो रे नाद नोर! प्रकृति पर्व सरहुल की अनंत शुभकामनाएं !
