Tributes Paid on the 37th Martyrdom Day of Nirmal Mahato
Chief Minister Hemant Soren, while commemorating the 37th martyrdom day of Nirmal Mahato, a prominent figure in the Jharkhand movement, made a significant pledge to the people of Jharkhand. The event, held at the martyr’s memorial in Jamshedpur, saw various leaders, including former Chief Minister Champai Soren and several MLAs, paying their respects to Nirmal Mahato, who was instrumental in the struggle for a separate Jharkhand state.
A Bold Election Promise
During the event, CM Soren made a noteworthy announcement from the stage, stating that if his government is re-elected, every family in Jharkhand will receive financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh.
This promise comes as part of a broader strategy aimed at supporting the state’s citizens. Soren emphasized that a specific plan has already been formulated to implement this initiative.
Remembering Nirmal Mahato’s Legacy
Nirmal Mahato, born on December 25, 1950, played a pivotal role in the movement that eventually led to the creation of Jharkhand. He served as the central president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and was a close associate of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren. Mahato’s life was tragically cut short on August 8, 1987, when he was assassinated outside the Chamaria Guest House in Jamshedpur, where a statue now stands in his honor.
Government Achievements Highlighted
Addressing the gathering, CM Soren highlighted the contributions of agitators like Nirmal Mahato in the formation of Jharkhand as a separate state. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of its people, pointing out various schemes introduced under his leadership. Soren assured the public that these initiatives are designed to provide convenience and support to the citizens.
Targeting the Opposition
In his speech, Soren also took the opportunity to criticize the BJP, predicting a significant defeat for the party if elections were held immediately. He expressed confidence that the people of Jharkhand are prepared to hold the BJP accountable in the upcoming elections.
The Chief Minister’s promise of financial aid has added a new dimension to the political landscape in Jharkhand, as the state gears up for the next election. The announcement, coupled with the emotional tribute to Nirmal Mahato, reflects Soren’s strategy to connect with the electorate by honoring the past while making bold promises for the future.
