Ranchi, August 26, 2024 – In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJPR) has staked a claim on 28 assembly seats. The party, aiming to expand its footprint beyond Bihar, held its National Executive meeting in Ranchi to strategize for upcoming elections in Jharkhand, Bihar, and other states.
The meeting, led by National President Chirag Paswan, saw the participation of 85 senior party officials. Key issues discussed included seat-sharing arrangements within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the party’s preparations for the elections. The LJPR’s move comes after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) [JDU] laid claim to 11 seats in Jharkhand, setting the stage for potential negotiations and adjustments within the NDA.
Chirag Paswan emphasized his party’s commitment to Jharkhand’s development and highlighted his intention to play a decisive role in the state’s politics. The meeting also focused on finalizing candidates, strengthening grassroots connections, and outlining the party’s campaign strategies.
Notably, the gathering also included discussions on the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, showcasing the party’s broader ambitions. The selection of the party’s national president was another crucial agenda point during the two-day meeting.
As alliances are shaped and seats are discussed, Jharkhand’s political dynamics appear to be heating up. The LJPR’s entry and claims could add another layer of complexity to seat-sharing talks within the NDA, with various regional and national parties eyeing a share of the electoral pie.
With elections nearing, the political maneuvering and negotiations in Jharkhand will be closely watched, as parties like LJPR seek to solidify their positions in the state’s evolving political landscape.
