Ranchi, Jharkhand – In a move to improve public services and address citizen concerns, the Jharkhand government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the direction of the Director General of Police (DGP), has launched the “Jan Shikayat Samadhan Karyakram” or Citizen Grievance Redressal Program. This initiative is aimed at ensuring the timely and efficient resolution of complaints related to the police and law enforcement.
The program, launched on September 10, encourages citizens to bring forward their complaints, which will be registered and addressed promptly by the concerned authorities. The objective is to create a system where grievances are handled transparently, and citizens are kept informed about the progress of their complaints.
Objectives of the Program: The Citizen Grievance Redressal Program has several key goals:
- Receiving Complaints: The program provides a platform for citizens to lodge complaints related to police matters.
- Registration and Acknowledgment: All complaints will be formally registered, and the complainants will receive confirmation of their submission.
- Action Updates: Citizens will be informed about the steps taken by the police to resolve their complaints.
- Timely Resolution: If there is no action within a specified time frame, senior officials will be alerted to intervene.
- Effective Complaint Resolution: The police will ensure a quick and effective solution to actionable complaints.
- Transparency on Unresolvable Complaints: If a complaint cannot be addressed, the complainant will still be notified of the reasons.
According to officials, the program also serves as an opportunity for the police to showcase best practices and demonstrate improvements in public service delivery. By understanding and addressing the grievances of the citizens, the government hopes to introduce policy reforms that will further enhance the police system in Jharkhand.
Speaking on the initiative, a senior police official said, “We are committed to ensuring that the voices of our citizens are heard and their complaints are resolved in a fair and timely manner. This program marks an important step towards building trust between the public and the police.”
How It Works:
Citizens can participate by visiting their nearest “Jan Shikayat Samadhan” event, where they can directly submit their complaints. From there, the police will ensure that complaints are registered, and citizens will be informed of the progress. Senior officers will intervene if there is any delay or lack of action.
The Jharkhand Police has also assured that even complaints that cannot be resolved will be communicated to the complainant, ensuring transparency in the process.
As the Citizen Grievance Redressal Program takes off across Jharkhand, the government and police are keen to hear from the public and act on their concerns. Citizens are encouraged to visit their local event on September 10 to submit their complaints and take part in the initiative aimed at improving public-police relations.
