जीवन एक ऐसी अनोखी पाठशाला है, जहाँ हर दिन कुछ नया सीखने का अवसर मिलता है। ये पाठशाला एक आम पाठशाला की तरह ही समय-समय पर परीक्षाएं लेती है। आपकी मेहनत के अनुसार ही आपको अच्छे या बुरे परिणाम देती है। एक सामान्य पाठशाला में अपनी पढ़ाई के सफ़र में आपको कई लोग मिलते है, जो आपकी शैक्षणिक यात्रा में आपके साथी बनते हैं। कभी कोई सवाल समझ नहीं आया तो शिक्षक से पूछ लिया, परीक्षा में पास होना था तो दोस्तों की मदद ले ली, इस तरह साथियों और शिक्षकों की मदद से शैक्षणिक यात्रा तो हंसी-ख़ुशी तय हो जाती है।

लेकिन जिंदगी की पाठशाला के नियम यहाँ थोड़े अलग हैं, क्योंकि इस यात्रा में आपके साथी केवल आप ही हैं…..।
अब इस बात से क्या मतलब, मतलब ये कि जीवन में केवल आपके लिए गये निर्णय और अपने लिए की गई मेहनत ही आपको सफल या असफल बना सकते हैं। इसलिए दुनिया में एक आप ही हैं, जो अपने आपको ऊपर उठा सकते हैं।
इंसान एक सामाजिक प्राणी है और बचपन से ही हम अपने हर काम के लिए किसी न किसी पर निर्भर रहते हैं। बचपन में माता-पिता, थोडा बड़े होने पर शिक्षक और दोस्त, और फिर जीवनसाथी इसके अलावा हमारे जीवन में अस्थाई रूप से आए और भी कई लोगों पर हम किसी न किसी तरह निर्भर रहते हैं। यह निर्भरता हमें मानसिक रूप से इतना लाचार बना देती है कि जब बात अपनी सफलता और उन्नति की आती है। तब भी हम जाने अनजाने में ही सही हमारे आस-पास के लोगों और परिस्थितियों पर निर्भर होने लगते हैं और अपनी असफलता के लिए भी दूसरों को दोष देने लगते हैं। इसकी शुरुआत बचपन से ही हो जाती है; परीक्षा में नंबर कम आए तो टीचर ने अच्छा नहीं पढ़ाया, नौकरी नहीं लगी तो दोष कॉलेज का था, और जहाँ किसी को दोष नहीं दिया जा सकता वहाँ किस्मत ही ख़राब है। इस संकीर्ण विचारधारा का ये असर होता है कि व्यक्ति मन से इतना उदासीन हो जाता है कि उसमें अपने लिए भी कुछ करने की प्रेरणा नहीं रहती।
इसके चलते असफलता, निराशा हाथ लगती है और फिर हम अपने अलावा सभी को दोष देने लगते हैं। लेकिन हमेशा, क्या सारा दोष परिस्थितियों और दूसरों का ही होता है…। जरा विचार कीजिये…। क्या व्यक्ति अपनी किसी भी परिस्थिति का स्वयं जिम्मेदार नहीं…। आप स्वयं का आकलन कीजिये, जीवन में कभी न कभी ये आपने भी किया होगा। दूसरों के सर दोष मढ़ने से आपने उस समय तो परिस्थिति संभाल ली। लेकिन आप ही विचार कीजिये यह तसल्ली आपने दूसरों को दी या स्वयं को दी। क्या इससे किसी और का कुछ भला-बुरा हुआ..? नहीं.., इसमें बस आपने अपना ही नुकसान किया। अपने मन को एक बहाना दे दिया और फिर उसी बने बनाए ढर्रे पर चल पड़े…।
यही कारण है कि आज सफल लोगों की संख्या कम है। क्योंकि हम अपने लिए काम नहीं करना चाहते। जीवन में अगर सफल होना है तो वो केवल आप ही है जो स्वयं को की मदद कर सकते हैं। निरंतर स्वयं पर काम करके ही खुद को सफल बनाया जा सकता है। इसके लिए सबसे पहले जरूरी है कि अपनी हर परिस्थिति की जिम्मेदारी स्वयं लीजिये, अपना आकलन कीजिये और अपनी कमी को पहचानकर उसे अपनी खूबी बनाने के लिए जुट जाइये। चाहे वो कमी बड़ी हो या छोटी उस पर काम कीजिये। निरंतर खुद पर काम करके ही आप आगे बढ़ सकते हैं। याद रखिये जब तक आप खुद के बारे में गंभीर नहीं होंगे। तब तक कोई भी आपकी मदद नहीं कर सकता चाहे कोई आपका कितना भी बड़ा शुभचिंतक क्यों न हो।
ये केवल कहने कि बातें नहीं है बल्कि इतिहास में ऐसे कई महान लोग हुए हैं, जिन्होंने अपनी कमियों पर काम करके और अपनी परिस्थितियों से लड़कर स्वयं को सफल बनाया है। इसकी प्रेरणा आप भारत के मिसाइल मैन और पूर्व राष्ट्रपति, अब्दुल कलाम के जीवन से ले सकते हैं। इसकी ही तरह अन्य महान लोग, जो जीवन में सफल हुए हैं ये भी आपकी और मेरी तरह ही साधारण लोग ही है। इनमें और अन्य लोगों में बस अंतर इतना सा है कि ये लोग अपने लिए सजग रहे, इन्होने स्वयं को बेहतर बनाने और अपनी कमियों पर विजय पाने के लिए प्रयास किये और सफल हुए। ये कोई कठिन कम नहीं बस कमी है दृढ़ निश्चय की, ठान लेने कि की मैं अपनी राह खुद बनाऊंगा, और मैं खुद का साथ कभी नहीं छोड़ूंगा। ”
