गणतंत्र दिवस के अवसर पर फिट इंडिया कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत विश्व गुरु पद्मश्री श्री उदय देशपांडे जी के नेतृत्व में विनोबा भावे विश्वविद्यालय में पहली बार भारतीय पारम्परिक खेल- मल्लखंभ का आयोजन किया जाएगा। एक कार्यशाला की शक्ल में इसका आयोजन दिनांक 24 जनवरी 2025 को अपराह्न 01 बजे विवेकानंद सभागार में निर्धारित किया गया है।
इस संबंध में जानकारी देते हुए विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रो पवन कुमार पोद्दार ने बताया कि इसके माध्यम से एक तरफ तो विद्यार्थियों को भारतीय परंपराओं से परिचित कराया जाएगा। वहीं दूसरी तरफ फिट रहने के एक प्रमाणित कौशल की जानकारी भी उन्हें उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।
उन्होंने आगे बताया कि मल्लखंब का इतिहास प्राचीन भारत से जुड़ा है और इसे व्यायाम व योग का अद्वितीय रूप माना जाता है। इस आयोजन की जवाब दे ही फिट इंडिया के नोडल पदाधिकारी एवं अर्थशास्त्र विभाग के प्राध्यापक डॉक्टर उमेंद्र सिंह को दिया गया है।
डॉ उमेंद्र सिंह ने बताया कि मल्लखंब का उल्लेख मराठा साम्राज्य के दौरान मिलता है, जब यह पहलवानों की शारीरिक क्षमता और लचीलापन बढ़ाने के लिए उपयोग में लाया जाता था। 18वीं शताब्दी में, बाजी राव द्वितीय के राजदरबार में इसका औपचारिक विकास हुआ। उन्होंने बताया कि “मल्ल” का अर्थ है पहलवान और “खंब” का मतलब खंभा। यह कला पारंपरिक रूप से एक लकड़ी के खंभे या रस्सी पर योगासन और व्यायाम के माध्यम से शारीरिक और मानसिक संतुलन को सुदृढ़ करने पर केंद्रित है।
यह भी जानकारी दी गई की वर्तमान समय में मल्लखंब न केवल भारत में बल्कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भी एक खेल के रूप में लोकप्रिय हो रहा है। इस अवसर पर हुनरबाज़-देश की शान टीवी शो के विजेता आकाश कुमार सिंह का भी प्रदर्शन होगा।
