नई दिल्ली : पंजाब कांग्रेस के पूर्व प्रधान नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू शनिवार को दस माह बाद पटियाला की सेंट्रल जेल से रिहा हो गए। 59 वर्षीय कांग्रेस नेता सिद्धू ने 1988 के रोड रेज के मामले में एक साल की सजा काटी। पिछले साल 20 मई को सुप्रीम कोर्ट के एक साल सश्रम कारावास की सजा सुनाए जाने के बाद सिद्धू ने पटियाला की एक अदालत के सामने आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया था। जेल से बाहर आए सिद्धू ने अपने चिरपरिचित अंदाज में कहा कि सत्य को दबाने का प्रयास सफल नहीं हो सकता। आज लोकतंत्र बेड़ियों में है।

सिद्धू के समर्थक सुबह से ही पटियाला जेल के बाहर जुटने लगे थे। ढोल वालों को भी बुलाया गया था। इसके बाद सिद्धू की रिहाई का इंतजार शुरू हुआ। शाम छह बजने से कुछ मिनट पहले सिद्धू जेल से बाहर निकले। समर्थकों की नारेबाजी पर सिद्धू ने झुककर उनका अभिवादन किया। बाहर आने के बाद सिद्धू ने कहा कि पंजाब में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की साजिश की जा रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि मुझे दोपहर के आसपास रिहा किया जाना था, लेकिन उन्होंने इसमें देरी की। वे चाहते थे कि मीडिया के लोग चले जाएं। इस देश में जब भी कोई तानाशाही आई है तो, एक क्रांति भी आई है और इस बार उस क्रांति का नाम है राहुल गांधी.
