Sculptures, statues, and other street decor were put in place in Delhi in advance of the G20 conference. In New Delhi: The NDMC announced on Monday that it is thinking about using security guards to stop theft or vandalism of property, such as statues and fountains put in place before the G20 Summit.
“We will maintain the assets, including 65 fountains and almost 20 sculptures, that were installed at significant locations and roundabouts for the G20 Summit,” said Satish Upadhyay, vice-chairman of NDMC.
In order to prevent theft or vandalism of property, such as fountains and sculptures constructed before to the G20 Summit, the NDMC announced on Monday that it is considering using security guards.
For the two-day G20 Summit, which brought together heads of state from around the world and ended on Sunday, numerous organisations, including the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), undertook substantial preparations.
Road infrastructure was improved, roadways were decorated with more than 7 lakh potted plants and fountains, and in the vicinity of the summit venue, statues, sculptures, and street furniture were placed.
“We will maintain the assets, including 65 fountains and almost 20 sculptures, that were installed at significant locations and roundabouts for the G20 Summit,” said Satish Upadhyay, vice-chairman of NDMC.
One lakh potted plants were also used by the city body to adorn long lengths of road, roundabouts, and other notable spots. The majority of the vegetation will be preserved, he said, even though some of these could now be relocated to places like NDMC buildings, health centres, and schools.
In order to avoid wasting the time and effort invested into beautifying the NDMC region, Mr. Upadhyay added, “We will assess whether it is necessary to deploy guards at some of these locations to ensure that the assets are not stolen or vandalised in the coming days.”
According to him, the NDMC will work to keep its neighbourhood clean and will make sure that the G20 Summit-era complaint response system, which was put in place to handle concerns quickly, continues to function as intended going forward.
He continued that the high degree of coordination between the various agencies was what allowed for the swift response by them during the summit.
To guarantee improved delivery of municipal services to the populace, Mr. Upadhyay requested Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to call meetings of various agencies on a weekly or bimonthly basis.
The NDMC was in charge of the G20’s Bharat Mandapam site, as well as the G20 secretariat and the hotels where the heads of state lodged.
In the NDMC region, 44 roads were spruced up for the G20 Summit, according to earlier statements made by Satish Upadhyay. The civic organization’s horticulture department planted seedlings to improve the foliage along the highways and open spaces and refurbished roundabouts.
