Delhi Experiences Heavy Rain, Offering Relief from Scorching Heat; IMD Issues Weekend Heavy Rain Alert.

Today, there was a lot of rain in some parts of Delhi, which helped to relieve the extreme temperature that has been plaguing the city. More showers are expected during the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

There were significant morning showers in several places, including Noida, Khan Market, Sarita Vihar, RK Puram in Delhi, and Munirka.
Social media footage of the spectacular weather were posted by locals, who expressed their relief and delight.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not provided a date for Delhi, but it has forecast that the monsoon will arrive over a significant portion of northwest India during the next three to four days. Monsoon rains are predicted to arrive in the area around June 30.

The weather service has predicted that Delhi would get light to moderate rain on June 29 and has issued an orange signal for that day due to the possibility of moderate to heavy rain on June 30.
On X, the IMD made a prediction at 7:30 AM that there will be “light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 Km/h over and adjoining areas of a few places in Delhi during the next two hours.” It is also anticipated to rain in Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad.

Usually, the monsoon current reaches Delhi between June 27 and June 29. It came on June 26 of last year, and according to available statistics, the first monsoon showers of 2022 were recorded on June 30.

Pre-monsoon rains fell on Wednesday throughout sections of the national capital and the National Capital Region (NCR), preventing Delhi’s maximum temperature from rising beyond 40°C for the second day in a row. The “real feel” temperature, or heat index (HI), was 52°C, unchanged from the previous two days. The highest temperature recorded in Delhi was 40.4°C on Monday and 39.7°C on Tuesday. The IMD predicted Thursday’s high temperature to be 38°C and low temperature to be 29°C.

Delhi has been experiencing extreme heatwaves; compared to 2023 and 2022, there were nine heatwave days in June. The recent rain provides much-needed relief from the oppressive heat.
