The Supreme Court, while giving an important decision in the NEET case, said that the NEET-UG 2024 examination will not be conducted again. Th court also marked that this is not a case of systematic failure or violation. However, the court admitted that the paper was leaked in Patna and Hazaribagh.
But the entire examination cannot be canceled on this basis alone. The court said, the paper leak has not happened on a large scale. There is no mistake in the system either. Saying this, the court issued an order not to cancel the NEET paper.
Delivering the full judgment, CJI DY Chandrachud said, “We have come to the conclusion that there was no systematic failure or violation in the NEET UG 2024 examination beyond Hazaribagh and Patna. We hold that the response of IIT Delhi was correct. We have said That NTA should now avoid the flip flops that have happened, because it does not work well.” The court appointed former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan to review the functioning of NTA and recommend examination reforms. Ordered to increase the scope of the committee formed by the Center under the chairmanship of Radhakrishnan.
The Supreme Court on Friday said that it did not cancel the controversial NEET- UG 2024 exam due to concerns over question paper leak because the NEET paper leak did not happen on a large scale and no lapse was found in its system. The bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra debated this. In the detailed reasons for the order pronounced on July 23, the court said that the National Examination Agency i.e. NTA should improve its working style.
