Babulal Marandi Criticizes Hemant Government’s Internet Ban During JSSC Exam

Marandi calls the internet shutdown impractical and harmful to daily life, urging the government to revoke the decision.

Ranchi, Jharkhand – Senior politician Babulal Marandi has strongly criticized the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government for its decision to impose an internet ban during the JSSC CGL exam. In his statement posted online, Marandi labeled the decision as “impractical and absurd,” arguing that the move has caused unnecessary disruption to the lives of citizens and students across the state.

The internet ban, which was implemented for two days during the exam, was intended to prevent cheating and ensure the integrity of the JSSC CGL examination. However, Marandi pointed out that the decision has had a negative impact, especially on candidates coming from other states to take the exam. He emphasized that the abrupt shutdown had caused significant difficulties for them.

“The internet has become an integral part of our daily lives,” Marandi noted in his statement. “From students’ education to banking services, government offices, transportation, and communication, internet access is essential in every aspect of life.”

He criticized the government for not considering the wider impact of the internet ban, stressing that it has disrupted not only the exam process but also the daily routines of millions of people in Jharkhand. According to Marandi, the ban has affected businesses, schools, hospitals, and even transportation services, all of which rely heavily on internet connectivity.

“By shutting down the internet, the government has thrown daily life into disarray,” he said. “People’s livelihoods are being affected, and the state’s economy could be severely impacted.”

Marandi further questioned the logic behind the decision, sarcastically suggesting that the government should go further if it intends to control people’s movement and communication. “Why stop at the internet? Ban people from leaving their homes, close down markets, and impose a curfew,” he remarked.

He also accused the government of trying to cover up its failures by imposing such drastic measures. According to Marandi, the Hemant government has not been able to conduct a fair and transparent examination, and this internet ban is merely a way to avoid addressing the real issues of corruption and inefficiency. He urged the government to reverse the decision immediately and come up with more practical solutions.

“It’s clear that the public has lost faith in the government’s ability to conduct exams without resorting to extreme measures,” Marandi stated. He warned that such decisions could lead to further unrest and dissatisfaction among the people of Jharkhand.

As the internet shutdown continues to spark debate, Babulal Marandi’s strong opposition has added fuel to the growing criticism of the government’s handling of the JSSC exam. Whether the Hemant Soren government will reconsider the ban remains to be seen, but Marandi’s call for more thoughtful and constitutional actions has resonated with many in the state.
