विनोबा भावे विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रोफेसर चंद्र भूषण शर्मा ने डॉ सुकल्याण मोइत्रा को विश्वविद्यालय राजनीति विज्ञान विभाग का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया है। इस संबंध में विश्वविद्यालय ने मंगलवार देर शाम को अधिसूचना जारी कर दी है। डॉ मोइत्रा ने बुधवार को आयोजित एक सादे समारोह में समाजविज्ञान संकायाध्यक्ष डॉ सादिक रज्जाक से पदभार ग्रहण किया। बाद में डॉ मोइत्रा ने विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति से शिष्टाचार भेंट कर कुलपति को धन्यवाद दिया। कुलपति ने उन्हें बधाई देते हुए उनसे पूरे उत्साह के साथ कार्य करने को कहा। डॉ मोइत्रा विभावि के राजनीति विज्ञान का एकमात्र एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर हैं। इस नाते अपने विषय मे विश्वविद्यालय के सबसे वरीय शिक्षक हैं।
विनोबा भावे विश्वविद्यालय में डॉ मोइत्रा की नियुक्ति 1996 को हुई थी। वह इस विश्वविद्यालय के पहले विद्यार्थी थे जो अपने ही विश्वविद्यालय में प्राध्यापक के पद पर नियुक्त हुए थे।
ज्ञात हो की डॉ मोइत्रा अपने परिवार के तीसरी पीढ़ी के महाविद्यालय-विश्वविद्यालय शिक्षक है। उनके पिता प्रोफेसर सुभाष कुमार मोइत्रा 1962 से 1998 तक संत कोलंबा महाविद्यालय के राजनीति विज्ञान विभाग के प्राध्यापक थे। उनके दादाजी प्रोफेसर ज्ञानेंद्र नाथ मोइत्रा भी 1916 से 1948 तक संत कोलंबा महाविद्यालय के इतिहास विभाग में प्राध्यापक रहे।
