गोमिया_ गिरिडीह जिले के डुमरी प्रखंड अंतर्गत दूधपनिया गांव निवासी प्रवासी मजदूर विजय कुमार महतो का पार्थिव शरीर सऊदी अरब से लगभग साढ़े तीन माह बाद भारत लाया गया। 14 फरवरी को शव रांची पहुंचा, जिसे राजेंद्र आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान (रिम्स) के शवगृह में रखा गया।
परिजनों के अनुसार, 23 अक्टूबर 2025 को सऊदी अरब में पुलिस और अपराधियों के बीच हुई मुठभेड़ के दौरान विजय कुमार महतो गोली लगने से चपेट में आ गए थे, जिससे उनकी मौके पर ही मौत हो गई थी। लंबी कानूनी औपचारिकताओं और कागजी प्रक्रियाओं के बाद रविवार देर शाम उनका शव रांची लाया जा सका।
शव के रिम्स पहुंचने पर भावुक माहौल देखने को मिला। प्रारंभ में परिजनों ने शव लेने से इनकार कर दिया था। उनका कहना था कि उन्हें लंबे समय तक किसी ठोस जानकारी और पर्याप्त सहयोग का अभाव झेलना पड़ा। बाद में प्रशासनिक स्तर पर समझाइश और आश्वासन के बाद शवगृह में आवश्यक प्रक्रियाएं आगे बढ़ाई गईं।
स्थानीय लोगों और परिजनों ने मांग की है कि प्रवासी मजदूरों की सुरक्षा को लेकर विदेशों में काम करने वाले भारतीय नागरिकों के मामलों में त्वरित और संवेदनशील कार्रवाई सुनिश्चित की जाए, ताकि ऐसी त्रासदियों में परिवारों को अनावश्यक प्रतीक्षा न करनी पड़े!
