IMD issued warning of heatwave and rainfall in several states of India
The India meteorological department predicted heatwave and rainfall weather over several states of India. IMD predicts that during the next 4 days, small pockets of West Bengal are expected to experience extreme heatwave conditions. Karnataka will also experience a similar heatwave for the following 4 days, as would Odisha on April 25 and 26, Uttar Pradesh up to April, Bihar from April 24 to 26, and Jharkhand on April 25 and 26. Heavy rainfall is forecast at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
Northwest India’s maximum temperatures are predicted to fluctuate just slightly during the next two days, then gradually rise by 2-4°C following that. Similarly, Gujarat’s maximum temperatures are predicted to rise by 2-4°C after the next three days, with no notable changes forecast during that time. It is anticipated that the remaining portion of the nation will have consistently high temperatures devoid of notable variations.
Additionally, warm nighttime conditions are predicted throughout East Madhya Pradesh on April 22 and 23, with daytime maximum temperatures expected to reach around 40°C. According to the IMD, meteorological phenomena like cyclonic circulations over northeast Bangladesh and northeast Assam are impacting weather conditions. This is causing light to moderate rainfall or snowfall over a large area, along with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in some areas. Among the regions anticipating these meteorological conditions are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. In the middle tropospheric levels, a Western Disturbance exists as a cyclonic circulation across Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan. Beginning on April 26, 2024, a new disturbance in the West is anticipated to impact the Western Himalayan Region. The following regions are anticipated to be impacted by these weather patterns at particular times: Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Over Uttar Pradesh, strong surface winds are also predicted to prevail.
