Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant kicked off their pre-wedding festivities with the extravagant Mameru ceremony at their residence, Antilia, in Mumbai. This Gujarati wedding tradition involves the bride’s maternal uncle (mama) bringing her sweets, gifts, jewellery, sarees, and other items.
In Gujarati, “Mameru” means “maternal uncle.” This ceremony celebrates the special relationship between the bride and her maternal uncle, typically held one or two days before the wedding at the bride’s residence.
Reports indicate it was a grand and joyous event. Radhika Merchant reportedly dazzled in an embroidered lehenga, complemented by traditional jewelry, possibly including pieces from her mother’s collection.
Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, and their children were all present to join in the couple’s celebrations.
An Instagram video showcased Antilia adorned with extravagant decorations for the ceremony. The home was festively embellished with a stunning mix of red, pink, white, and orange flowers, enhanced by golden lighting. Musicians were also spotted standing outside the house, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Anant and Radhika are shown in another ceremony video standing on a platform as many attendees applaud them. The pair is seen being approached by Mukesh and Nita Ambani in the video.
Despite being relatively intimate compared to previous grand events in this pre-wedding journey, the festivities saw the attendance of celebrities like Anu Malik.
On July 2, the Ambani family hosted a large-scale wedding for 50 underprivileged couples from Maharashtra’s Palghar district at the Reliance Corporate Park in Thane. Around 800 guests, including the couples’ parents, attended this charitable event.
Earlier this year, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant held their first pre-wedding celebration in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The event was attended by prominent figures such as Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, along with numerous Indian celebrities. The festivities featured performances by various artists, including Rihanna and Diljit Dosanjh. For their second pre-wedding event, the Ambanis organized a four-day Mediterranean cruise.
Anant and Radhika’s wedding is set for July 12, to be held at the Jio World Centre Convention Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.
