Three Army personnel were injured in a firefight with terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, today. During the encounter, soldiers also killed one terrorist.
This marks the third such encounter in Kashmir this week. Earlier, a soldier was killed on Wednesday during an anti-terror operation in Kupwara. On Tuesday, another soldier was killed while thwarting an infiltration attempt in Poonch district along the LoC.
There has been a rise in terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months, raising concerns about the resurgence of militancy in the region.
In response to the increasing incidents of terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting last month to evaluate the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed the security situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, receiving a comprehensive overview of the counter-terrorism operations by the armed forces.
The Prime Minister also spoke with Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to get updates on the local administration’s efforts. According to sources, the Prime Minister has instructed the authorities to fully utilize the armed forces’ counter-terror capabilities.
