OIL IS NOT WELL IN COUNTRY

India is facing a growing crisis as the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) continues to be disrupted across several cities amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States. The geopolitical tensions have significantly affected global energy supply chains, leading to shortages of cooking gas in many parts of the country. The situation has begun to impact daily life, with both households and businesses struggling to access essential fuel for cooking.

One of the worst affected sectors is the restaurant and hospitality industry. In several cities, restaurants, street food vendors, and small eateries have been forced to suspend operations due to the unavailability of commercial LPG cylinders. Restaurant owners say that without a stable supply of cooking gas, running kitchens has become nearly impossible. Many businesses that depend on daily cooking operations are reporting heavy losses as customers are turned away.

According to traders and local distributors, the shortage has also led to the emergence of black marketing in several urban areas. In many cities, LPG cylinders are reportedly being sold at prices far higher than the official rates. Some consumers claim they are being forced to pay double or even triple the normal price just to obtain a cylinder. This illegal trade is further worsening the crisis for common citizens who rely on LPG for their daily cooking needs.

Opposition parties have strongly criticized the government over the situation, accusing it of failing to anticipate the impact of the Iran–US conflict on India’s energy supply. Political leaders have questioned the government’s foreign policy and preparedness, arguing that better diplomatic and supply management strategies could have prevented such a severe shortage. They claim that the government should have taken early steps to secure alternative sources of LPG imports.

Meanwhile, consumer groups and business associations are urging authorities to intervene immediately. Industry representatives say the government must ensure emergency supply arrangements, increase domestic distribution, and take strict action against black market operators who are exploiting the crisis.

Experts warn that if the situation is not addressed quickly, the shortage could intensify and affect millions of households across the country. The demand for cooking gas remains high, and any prolonged disruption could have serious economic and social consequences.

As the crisis continues, citizens and businesses alike are looking toward the government for swift and decisive action. Ensuring adequate LPG supply and stabilizing the market has now become an urgent priority to prevent further disruption to everyday life in the country.
