Student Presents ‘Shame Flowers’ to Retiring Official in Protest Over Alleged Corruption in Jabalpur

A unique and dramatic protest unfolded in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during the retirement farewell ceremony of C.K. Dubey, Assistant Commissioner of the Tribal Affairs Department. What was meant to be a celebratory event turned into a platform for dissent when a student chose to present the official with a bouquet of “Shame Flowers” instead of the customary farewell bouquet.

Addressing the gathering, the student openly accused Dubey of overseeing a tenure marked by corruption and administrative failures. He stated that officials facing such allegations should not be considered for reappointment after retirement. The unexpected gesture stunned attendees and significantly changed the atmosphere of the event.

The protest stems from long-standing complaints by students regarding poor conditions in tribal hostels. According to them, many hostels suffer from inadequate food supplies, lack of basic amenities, and neglect by the authorities. Students allege that corruption and departmental negligence have directly affected the welfare of tribal children.

The protesting students emphasized that their demonstration was not directed at a single individual alone but against a system that compromises the rights and welfare of underprivileged children. The incident has drawn attention to growing demands for accountability and transparency, highlighting how young people are increasingly willing to raise their voices against perceived injustice and administrative failures.
