गुमला में हाथी का आतंक: पांच की मौत, प्रशासन अलर्ट

झारखंड के सारंडा जंगल से हर साल हाथियों का झुंड खूंटी, गुमला, सिमडेगा और लोहरदगा जिलों में प्रवेश कर भारी तबाही मचाता है। इस साल भी खूंटी जिले से आए एक बिगड़ैल हाथी ने गुमला और सिमडेगा के ग्रामीण इलाकों में अब तक पांच लोगों को मौत के घाट उतार दिया है। वन विभाग की निष्क्रियता पर ग्रामीणों में आक्रोश है, जबकि प्रशासन ने सतर्कता बरतने की अपील की है।

पालकोट में बुजुर्ग की मौत, वन विभाग ने जारी की चेतावनी

गुमला डीएफओ अहमद बिलाल के अनुसार, यह हाथी खूंटी से निकलकर कोलेवीरा, पालकोट और रायडीह के जंगलों से होते हुए चैनपुर, कुरुमगढ़ और पतगच्छा की ओर बढ़ रहा है। पालकोट के सिकोई जंगल में महुआ बीनने गए 70 वर्षीय बुजुर्ग को इस हाथी ने कुचलकर मार डाला। सूचना मिलने पर वन विभाग की टीम ने शव को कब्जे में लेकर पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेजा और मृतक के परिवार को मुआवजा प्रदान किया।

वन विभाग ने जंगलों में रहने वाले ग्रामीणों को महुआ चुनने, लकड़ी लाने और अन्य कार्यों के लिए जंगल में प्रवेश न करने की सख्त हिदायत दी है। साथ ही, आसपास के इलाकों में सतर्कता बरतने को कहा गया है।

रामनवमी पर प्रशासन की बढ़ी चुनौती

वन विभाग के अनुसार, हाथी के आंजन धाम के जंगलों की ओर बढ़ने की संभावना है, जहां रामनवमी के अवसर पर भारी संख्या में श्रद्धालु एकत्रित होंगे। झारखंड, मध्य प्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़ और ओडिशा सहित कई राज्यों से भक्त यहां हनुमान जन्मस्थली के दर्शन के लिए आते हैं। ऐसे में गुमला जिला प्रशासन, पुलिस और वन विभाग की जिम्मेदारी बढ़ गई है।

हर साल दोहराई जाती है तबाही

यह पहला मौका नहीं है जब हाथी के आतंक से ग्रामीणों को जान-माल का नुकसान झेलना पड़ा हो। दशकों से सारंडा जंगल से हाथी झुंड में आते हैं और उत्पात मचाकर वापस लौट जाते हैं। पहले भी एक बिगड़ैल हाथी ने इंसान को मारकर उसका कुछ हिस्सा खा लिया था, जबकि एक अन्य हाथी ने गुमला जिला मुख्यालय में पीडब्ल्यूडी दफ्तर की दीवार तोड़ दी थी।

पूर्व में, गुमला के तत्कालीन उपायुक्त लियोन कुंगा के कार्यकाल में भी एक हाथी ने जंगल में रहकर एक हथिनी के साथ लंबा समय बिताया था, जिसकी खबरें सुर्खियों में रही थीं। बावजूद इसके, वन विभाग की सुस्ती और अकर्मण्यता पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं कि आखिर कब तक ग्रामीणों को इस खतरे का सामना करना पड़ेगा।
